How can non-woo explain this?

DD has a little cubby hole in her room in the eaves in which she has cushions and some little lights strung up. Last night she was looking for some new batteries for the lights as they were dimming. But we couldn't find any.

This morning when she went in her cubby hole, the back of her mouse had been removed and its batteries were sitting next to it. Shock

DS was asleep when DD was looking for the batteries and didn't go in her room in the morning before school, so it wasn't him. DH was out and didn't know we'd been looking for batteries. I didn't do it. There hasn't been anyone else in the house.

I'm sure Jonathan Creek would have an explanation, but any ideas?

It was Birdie Friend

She did it herself on auto-pilot and doesn’t remember? I frequently do things like this.

Scatterlit · 20/01/2020 23:54

Nah, Birdie Friend isn’t helpful, he’d have said the family hamster was on its last legs and predicted the end of the world. Grin

There is someone living secretly in your house. She went out to the shop and got the batteries, found a screwdriver and took it all upstairs and unscrewed the back of the battery pack ready for your daughter to change the batteries. Then went back to her hidey hole.

Me too, but isn't it much more realistic that aliens did it?

How can woo explain it? Were you thinking it was ghosties and ghoulies that did it? 👻👻

PermanentTemporary · 20/01/2020 23:59

She did it herself while half asleep.

Sorry I'm a brutally non woo person though I try to keep it in check in public... I am also capable of doing stuff I then instantly forget about and honestly deny all knowledge of.

It was a spider, they have great manual dexterity

lborgia · 21/01/2020 03:04

Your daughter does very practical sleep walking. It does happen!

Sparklfairy · 21/01/2020 03:11

ioioitsoff that is not the sort of thing I want to read at 3am! Shock Grin

ioioitsoff · 21/01/2020 03:40

Ah, sorry. It was complete bollocks, the fecker would of broken all its legs to be sure.

Sleep walking.

I used to joke I had a helpful poltergeist, I had things happen like a dental appointment card appearing in the middle of the sofa when I got up and it being the day of the appointment.

Then I found out I sleep walk.
