Stop preaching and shoving veganism in my face. Enough now

Just found out a Vegan documentary was preached at my teenager at youth club
It's a choice grown adults should be allowed to make. But such a restrictive diet should not be preached at growing children who could also be vulnerable to eating problems.
I've never preached my diet at anyone but this has been shoved in my face continuously. Judgement when I order animal products in restaurants, advertising, now my rapidly growing young son is to eat without milk, cheese, eggs, butter etc
I'm absolutely fuming
There is no hard science to back the health benefits. The environmental impact is dubious.
Sure I understand if you are an animal lover but that's still an individual choice.

Are you kidding? Heart disease is the biggest killer for the human species, there is so much evidence to suggest that meat is a huge contributor to this.

The China Study, which found a diet with extremely limited eating of animal products to be healthiest for humans, is the largest study ever conducted into diet in human history.

The diet that the average western person follows now is simply not healthy, end of. It sounds like you're the one on their high horse here.

Also, there is plenty of evidence of the benefits to the environment and it is just obviously more ethical in it's treatment to animals, so stop being butt hurt.

Did your child ever attend a bake sale or make cookies at school? Children will be exposed to suggestions of eating various different unhealthy foods, there is not some ethical requirement to only ever mention the scientifically proven optimum diet to them. The difference is that people are only this defensive when it's veganism

He hasn't come back interested so they clearly haven't been brainwashed, why are you so bothered?

@ishotmrburns Exactly this.

I have never heard a vegan 'preaching' but I hear a lot of meat eaters moaning about veganism, especially on mumsnet.

I probably eat about 50-75% plant based diet. I'm happy that there is so much choice in the shops these days.

It's high time that people were given the facts about the meat and dairy industry so that they can make their own informed decision.

No one is shoving anything in your face 🙄 your son is a teenager therefore old enough to make his own decisions about what he eats. It is possible to watch a vegan documentary and not become vegan you know. And it is healthy and it's fine from birth. There is plenty of evidence out there to back it up.

Awww diddums.

You sound very ignorant.

Bitchbadgerplease · 21/01/2020 16:55

I refuse to believe that inventing an animal (cows are a manufactured breed) and then drinking its breastmilk which is perfectly 'designed' for their offspring, is healthy for humans
Like how the hell could it be?
Oh and then we'll make it go off and eat it, too. it just makes no sense.
