Hi so my me and my husband have been together for 16 years couple of years ago he had an affair couple years ago and now I’m going in to buy my council house that I’ve kept afloat for 16years my worry is and I no I shouldn’t feel like this but after the affair I can’t help thinking if I’m getting this mortgage on my own if we was to divorce I wouldn’t want him taking half.He said he will sign an agreement to say he wouldn’t take half but I have no idea if you can do this if it’s possible if your married I no people are going to say well you stayed with him so you should trust him but no one ever nos what’s around the corner and I’ve bent over backwards to keep this house for years I want to no could I get an agreement that says he doesn’t get the house if we split or any value from it and would it stand in court If we ever did divorce and how would I get one for these thank you

Sounds like you should divorce now and get a court order stating exactly what you're saying. It can all be done by consent.
I think what you're referring to is a Separation Agreement but they're not watertight and could be displaced by the court in future years.
If the marriage is over then deal with it all now for certainty.

Has your husband not been contributing to the family finances and/or contributing in other ways (housework, childcare etc) for the last 16 years? And will he not be contributing in the future? I'm not really understanding why you would see the house as more yours than his after 16 years of living together.

I would advise you sort your relationship out before committing to a mortgage.
