V5C Problem!

Hi all,

I was selling my car last week and a buyer came over and was adamant about purchasing the car. He was paying via bank transfer and whilst he was doing that I was informing the DVLA of the car being transferred over so that he could tax the car as he would be driving it to his home. As soon as that transfer to the DVLA was confirmed he then shut off his banking app (he still hadn't paid) and claimed he wanted to pay a lower price than what had been confirmed in writing. I refused to take that offer and away he went without the car. I never gave him the green keeper slip and I still have the car keys as its in my possession. I did manage to SORN the car using my logbook reference number. But how will I go about getting the logbook back in my name?

What did the DVLA advise when you asked them?

I must admit I didn’t know you could do it instantly - I sold two cars recently and on both occasions posted back the relevant sections of the V5C. You need the V5C to tax the car but it doesn’t have to be in your name at the time.
