Brace fitting food ideas

My Ds had first part of braces fitted last week , the rest will be done this week.

Struggling with food ideas, done soup, fish in better sauce and mashed potato, sausage casserole.

Ideas please. Will he manage meat etc when it settles ?

Pasta, rice, noodles. Yes he will manage meat and most other foods afterwards

Pretty well the only things mine can't eat are raw carrots, whole apples and nuts. She broke one eating a Candy cane at Christmas too so no boiled sweets or sticks of rock.

Thank you. It’s the train track style braces.

I think there is an element of wanting and not wanting to eat already couldn’t eat most veg but managed a biscuit 🙄

For a few days after having his races fitted DS ate Macarroni Cheese, Lasagne and Pot Noodles. Now he eats pretty much anything except sticky sweets, boiled sweets and nuts.

My DD didn't eat corn on the cob,raw carrots apple uncut, french bread and sweets(this came as a suprise to me but she was worried about the sugar)though chocolate seemed ok!

Hotchocmonster · 20/01/2020 00:32

I found eating normally (rather then soft foods) actually made my teeth feel better quicker after a wire tightening. Although it can be a bit sore at the time.

I ate as normal, but did break my braces/wire 3 times during the treatment (twice in one week 😬) on pringles, crusty baguette and a werthers sweet!

Immediately after fitting and tightening appointments, my DD eats soft food such as lentils in tomato sauce with soup-sized pasta (does not require much if any chewing) and omelettes - soft food and painkillers.

Once the discomfort is over, she can eat fairly normally although no crusty bread, sticky sweets, very hard veg like corn on the cob - anything that does require chewing needs to be cut into small pieces and eaten with the back teeth and not the braces.

Ds had his fitted last week and for the first few days just had cottage pie/lasagne and similar but was pretty much fine after that although he still struggles with meat like roast beef or chicken breast.

Titsywoo · 20/01/2020 00:48

Should mention that my ds has bite blocks too which is why he struggles with meat
