If you have a shower with a fixed shower head....

How do you wash your nether regions? DH has just moaned at me because I hate staying anywhere that doesn't have a shower head you can move, for this reason.

I totally under what you mean OP. When I stayed in a certain budget hotel about 5 years ago,I discovered that the shower head was fixed. I spent all day feeling uncomfortable because I hadn't been able to rinse properly. I am disabled (rheumatoid and osteoarthritis) and am a bit overweight,so find it very difficult to rinse those,um,awkward to reach bits without a movable shower head, because I can't can't move my wrists and shoulders easily.
When I stayed in a hotel last year,I emailed them beforehand asking what sort the shower heads were. I mentioned that I was disabled, and they emailed me back saying that they would put me in one of their disabled accessible rooms (even though I'm not in a wheelchair) as their disabled access rooms had wet rooms with movable shower heads.

Rainfall showers were designed by men, for men, clearly. Like so many things in life!

I don't like them, but when forced to use them, I just use my hands and smoosh about a bit to make sure the water gets everywhere it needs to.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 20/01/2020 07:45

Well the water still goes all over your body so you just collect the water in your hands and wash that way. We have a detachable head on the wall too but never use that. I'm sure I will to wash DD when she's old enough for showers.

For those asking how to clean a shower screen, get a squeegee and use it on the screen after every shower. It takes seconds.

Then once a week (probably going to get called a heathen for that!) crack out some Windolene and a micro fibre cloth. Easy.

Newmetoday · 20/01/2020 07:56

I’ve never hosed down my bits with a shower head. Bit extreme. I use a cloth like a normal person

GreenTulips · 20/01/2020 08:04

This is why I have both!

Much easier for a quick rinse.

I rarely wash my hair in the shower so a standard fixed one would be awful. Although the kids like it.

kjhkj · 20/01/2020 08:12

I have both but we are currently having our bathroom redone due to an issue with our existing one (which to be fair was last done in 1989) and I am having a turkish/japanese toilet (bidet toilet) which has a shower head in the toilet. I am very excited about my toilet!

CatteStreet · 20/01/2020 08:14

We have both. I like to use the movable shower head and dh and my sons like the rain shower. Which figures.

If some people don't find it necessary to have a removable shower head then fine, don't take it off the wall. Fixed ones don't give you the choice, removable ones do.

Housewife2010 · 20/01/2020 08:40

I have a large fixed shower head and a smaller removable one. I only use the removable one for cleaning the shower or when I'm dyeing my hair, but I'd always choose both when planning a bathroom.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 20/01/2020 08:42

I do a headstand on a flannel to stop my head slipping and free up a hand to get to the relevant areas.

Concerning how many people are now saying "well I wouldn't get a fixed head because I can do handstands" GrinGrinGrin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/01/2020 18:05

Why are some people saying this is a strange question? It makes perfect sense to ask it to me.

Why does it have to be an either/or dilemma? If you have a removable head (the shower, not you yourself!), then you also have a fixed head, surely? Fixing it in is just cutting down your options for no reason at all.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/01/2020 18:06

Oops, I pretty much repeated what Menubar had said there.

Usernamealreadyexists · 20/01/2020 20:43

Thanks for asking this question. I think it’s a genuine problem for women. I’m with you. I will not book hotels or accommodation with fixed shower head.

LOL, I love it!

Men also like to be able to wash and rinse their nether regions by taking shower head down. If my husband had done a headstand and slipped he'd have broken the whole bathroom (big tall chap).
