If you have a shower with a fixed shower head....

How do you wash your nether regions? DH has just moaned at me because I hate staying anywhere that doesn't have a shower head you can move, for this reason.

OP posts:
ActualHornist · 19/01/2020 17:26

I have a separate head on my rainwater one but I only use it for washing the bath out.

I get wet under the shower, soap everywhere, rinse everywhere. I use my hands to swoosh water where it is needed.

I don't actually understand how you are showering that that isn't sufficient?!

Rumboogie · 19/01/2020 17:30

Totally agree. I use a flannel if staying in a place with fixed shower head, but never feel clean. My OH doesn't understand this. Water trickling down just doesn't do the job.

emsyj37 · 19/01/2020 17:31

When we replaced our bathroom in our last house DH wanted a rain head shower that was fixed. I said EXACTLY that OP, 'how will I rinse my bits???' Blush So we got a separate handheld attachment fitted too. They are pretty standard these days - presumably to make cleaning the cubicle easier.

Pinkbonbon · 19/01/2020 17:34

Totally agree op! Plus sometimes you want to shows without washing your hair. I mean I know there are shower caps but they're a fart. Have no idea why anyone would want a fixed showerhead.

DappledThings · 19/01/2020 17:36

@Horsemad It's the Method one. Only been two days so far but it seems to work. Quick spray all over before getting out of the shower and the glass dries clean.

AlaskaElfForGin · 19/01/2020 17:37

Not use a showerhead like a vaginal douche....

I'm guessing you don't actually know what vaginal douching means or you wouldn't have asked that question. No one mentioned douching apart from you.

woodhill · 19/01/2020 17:41

I never move my shower head apart from cleaning or hair washing over the bath.

If you stand under the water trickles down

butwhateverfor · 19/01/2020 17:44

I can’t stand them either. The Americans are the worst offenders for the immovable shower.

Malfoof · 19/01/2020 17:44

A bathroom salesperson once told me that the fixed head ones are for men and the moveable ones are for women...

megletthesecond · 19/01/2020 17:46

I've always wondered this. IMO A shower needs to be aimed at crevices to rinse them clean.

MiniGuinness · 19/01/2020 17:47

I think a PP has it, it is more difficult to wash yourself if you are on the larger size, so I think for many people this is why they need a removable shower head. I rarely remove my shower head as it always goes back in at a funny angle.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 19/01/2020 17:47

I am #teamdetachableshowerhead but for me its my hair that doesn't feel clean unless I can get the showerhead up under the back and give it a good close blast.

StarlightLady · 19/01/2020 17:48

I agree with you OP. My hand stands ability is poor too.

ParsleyPot · 19/01/2020 17:48

Agreed

Malfoof · 19/01/2020 17:50

He told me the reason that women prefer the movable ones is because of hair washing (I mentally added our bits as another reason).

drspouse · 19/01/2020 17:53

With soap.

MadamShazam · 19/01/2020 17:58

Yes agreed OP. I feel like I can't give my bits a good rinse if i can't move the shower head.

Horsemad · 19/01/2020 17:58

Thank you Dappled, will check it out. 🙂

This thread is making me doubt myself, as we are having a new shower cubicle & I've stipulated a fixed shower head. 🤨
I thought it'd be less to clean - no manky hose and no riser rail, see?
Hmm, have I time to change my mind I wonder...? 🤔

CrotchetyQuaver · 19/01/2020 18:15

I love our removable shower head, so I can make sure any soap residue is properly/thoroughly rinsed away. Whether that's on my head or elsewhere on my body. I don't feel properly clean if I'm somewhere where there's only a fixed shower head. Nothing to do with body shape or size in my opinion.

FizzyPink · 19/01/2020 18:17

I agree OP. At DP’s he only has a fixed one and I always feel like I’ve missed a part of my washing routine

Esspee · 19/01/2020 18:20

I'm currently on vacation and hate the shower in the place. 100% with you OP.

Notso · 19/01/2020 18:26

@Horsemad I was convinced I'd need a removable shower head so insisted on both in the en-suite.
Honestly I only use it for washing my body when I've had a Brazilian blow dry and can't get my hair wet or occasionally to rinse my hair because it's there not because it's better.
The fixed shower head is fine most of the time, it's all my kids have in their bathroom and no issues for teen DD. Believe me she would be the first to complain!
I think lots of people must have poor water pressure.

NightsOfCabiria · 19/01/2020 18:32

Completely agree with you OP. I went for an overhead & removable spray for this very reason.

NightsOfCabiria · 19/01/2020 18:34

I am slim btw.

Lipperfromchipper · 19/01/2020 18:37

This has got to be the strangest question...HmmConfused
