If you have a shower with a fixed shower head....

How do you wash your nether regions? DH has just moaned at me because I hate staying anywhere that doesn't have a shower head you can move, for this reason.

OP posts:
TooleyVanDooley · 19/01/2020 18:39

Totally agree (and am not fat)

AravisTarkheena · 19/01/2020 18:44

Surely this thread can’t be on page 3 without someone having mentioned the other major benefit of a detachable shower head!

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 19/01/2020 18:49

I'm sooo with you, OP.
We have not one, but TWO of them (main bathroom and our en suite) Envy I've just raised it yet again with dh, and he has had a swipe at me about 'bathing in my own filth' (I prefer baths) Angry

Jaxhog · 19/01/2020 18:50

I always climb up the walls and position myself under the showerhead. Doesn't everyone?

newbingepisodes · 19/01/2020 18:52

erm with a sponge or a shower puff thing!

SpeckledyHen · 19/01/2020 18:57

I haven’t done a handstand for many decades and not going to start now .

SunbeamsOverhead · 19/01/2020 19:10

We have both.

painintheholeSIL · 19/01/2020 19:40

I hear you OP. I hate a fixed shower head. I feel like I'm not clean if I can't take it down

Lollypop701 · 19/01/2020 20:56

@AravisTarkheena fixed shower head here 😩.. I’ve heard rumours though, and we are due a new shower!

SpeedofaSloth · 19/01/2020 20:58

I agree OP. Ditto getting conditioner out of your hair properly, and washing the bath.

Howzaboutye · 19/01/2020 21:06

Well I'd say most men don't actually clean their bathroom, so they don't know that you need a detachable shower head to actually clean the bath/shower.

And there is no way trickling water is going to clean off period blood. That just equals blood on the towel and more washing to do.
But that would require the man to listen to that as a reason and appreciate it's a valid reason.

Horsemad · 19/01/2020 21:08

@Notso, tbh I've never moved the current shower head, which IS detachable, so maybe I won't find it a problem. 🤞

slippermaiden · 19/01/2020 21:19

Use your hand and slosh around a bit! They were talking about this on radio one the other morning when I was in the shower! Not sure how the bath, tiles and screen get cleaned though! I have a removable shower head but I only take it down when cleaning the tiles etc

RealJudas · 19/01/2020 21:54

We have one shower with a fixed head and one with a movable, I much prefer the latter as I like to adjust the height to just above my head (I also take off the shower head to rinse myself but I do recognise this is not entirely necessary) ..... Also cleaning the fixed shower cubicle is a massive pain in the arse.

StarlightLady · 19/01/2020 22:10

@AravisTarkheena - Wink!!!!

Preach OP! I get very cross with hotels that only provide fixed heads.

SingingLily · 19/01/2020 22:36

We used to have one in our old house but I insisted on one with a flexible handheld one addition so you have my sympathy.

ExpletiveDelighted · 19/01/2020 22:37

I'm with you OP, I hate fixed shower heads and particularly dislike the overhead rainshower types as it's difficult to angle them to where you want them.

Bluerussian · 19/01/2020 22:46

I wouldn't like only having a fixed shower head but most shower units nowadays come with both so you can do your nether regions with clean running water rather than a flannel or whatever. At home I've always had a shower head that you can take down but if I have bathroom redone I might have both.

shedidwhatnow · 19/01/2020 22:52

They had this conversation on the radio the other day and one caller tried to make it a bit risqué by saying women like to take it off (wink wink) and Greg shut her down straight away and made out he thought she meant something else. Ha.

madmother1 · 19/01/2020 22:58

I've moved into my new home and the previous owners fitted a fixed shower head. The first week, I couldn't suss out how to clean the shower enclosure!!

I have to go in naked, with a shower cap/gloves and a jug. It's ridiculous!! I sometimes get my steamer out. Anyone suggest another way to clean?

Horsemad · 19/01/2020 23:14

Grin @madmother1

DrivingMsCrazy · 19/01/2020 23:57

@ThisMustBeMyDream the vagina is the internal canal. The outer vulva, labia etc is NOT self cleaning which is what the OP is referring to.
I'm totally with you OP. Always have to take the shower head off the hook to rinse my undercarriage, legs and feet better than just a spray from high up does. I don't feel properly rinsed unless I do.
I also told a friend of mine who was getting thrush, she started proper rinsing and it solved her issue. She's been leaving soap residue before and it was irritating. A proper swooshy rinse makes much happier bits!!

minipie · 20/01/2020 00:09

Confused you get your bits wet by standing under the shower and give them a good rub with hand or flannel to get them clean. No need for pressure hose effect (at least not for cleaning purposes)
