Travel agent question

Having real issues trying to find flights somewhere sunny at Easter but using our Avios points. The BA website is rubbish, you used to be able to search locations for points on the Avios website.
Would a travel agent do this? Can anyone recommend a website where it gives you destinations based on how many Avios you have? Thanks :)

Try www.headforpoints.com

You really need to book Avios flights waycup front. A travel agent is not going to help you because there is nothing in it for them.

To be honest, the chances of picking a flight up on Avios at a peak time such as Easter are remote.

Sugest you select one or two destinations, select pay with Avios option scroll through dates looking for the “Flights Available” option.

You might end up having to use Avios one way or paying for one way. Remember if you do the latter, you do not have to use the same carrier both ways.

The chance of getting Avios flights at Easter at this stage is zero. Your only option is part cash part miles (a waste in my opinion) or waiting until 2 days before and seeing if anything opens up if you are up for last minute. You really need to start looking 9 months to a year out and don't expect to get anything in school hols

Also it's a total waste to use them on economy flights as taxes are the main cost and you still have to pay them. We've always used them for Club or First

No suggestion, sorry OP, just looking for similar advice.

Also to search for available flights. Log in to the exec club. Click book with Avios. Then click check reward flight availability. Then go to reward flight finder.
Do it on a desktop if you can. Much better

How many Avios do you have and how many people?

Check here for how many you need for destinations and cabin.

You’re looking too late!!!

doodlejump1980 · 20/01/2020 08:12

@nakedavengeragain we’ve got 68,000 Avios. Thanks for all the suggestions, had no idea you had to book so far in advance. The old Avios website was much better than the BA one 😫

They usually release from a year ahead. Popular times and destinations will go almost immediately.

As you get nearer the date however BA revenue will likely release more seats but only if the plane isn't full already. Obviously holiday times are less likely. We are talking a few days out though. I've managed to score flights in First LHR to LAX return 5 months out but we were travelling early summer and outside of school hols

There's a bit of a knack to reward flight bookings and you sometimes need a steely nerve but read that Head for points blog for tips as well as Exec Club on Flyertalk.
