Hotpoint washing machine recalls

Does anyone have any experience of this? Got a letter on Friday to say they thought it might be a fire risk, phoned them and they confirmed it was! Have been told to unplug it and not use it unless absolutely necessary and only on a cold wash! Someone is apparently going to contact me to arrange a replacement, does anyone know how long this might be? I can't be without a washer for long!

I got a letter on Friday too, which says I can continue to use it as long as the temp is 20'C maximum. I entered the serial number on line, the email I then received confirmed it was a dodgy one and they'd be in touch.....Confused
I tried ringing the hotline number yesterday, was hold for 10 minutes, then it cut me off saying high volume of calls blah blah blah Angry
Not very satisfactory really. I'm using the Ariel cold water laundry gel for now on a 20'C wash until they come up with a new machine.
By the way the letter mentioned nothing about plumbing in the new machine.

I’ve one of their tumble dryers and after the absolute shambolic Way they handled that recall after years of denial I swore I’d never buy another of their appliances - which is harder than expected given the range of brands they own.

Good luck getting it fixed, mine was swifter than expected but it never worked properly after. I also strongly objected to being upsold stuff whilst he was here.
If it’s the same as the tumble dryers you might find it’s quicker to go for the pay a small amount and get a replacement new one.

You could lie and say someone in the house is innocent there is a priority for this .
not saying it's right to jump the question up to u.

Hi - I registered mine as one of the dangerous ones at the beginning of january - they have sicne e-mailed me and arranged to deliver a replacement on 31st Jan. I've continued to use mine on 20 degree setting.
Seems to have been sorted fairly efficiently (although I'll hold my praise for after the new machine arrives !)

I've had my machine for about 4 years - and it hasn't caught fire in that time so it feels a bit like shutting the stable door to just use on low temps now - but I thought best to follow their advice now it has been issued.

I did all my dealings with thme online aas I can;t stand sitting for hours on hold on the phone - it was pretty quick, although you have to put in the model number etc and the type of door handle you have on your machine etc. But they emaled back straight away once I'd filled in the details.

The chap I spoke to on the hotline was very helpful and said that they would install the new one and dispose of the other but had no idea when it would be!

You should get an email soon Livnatmum letting you select a date for installation.

Will they plumb in the replacement washer too kurri?
I paid for that service originally with Currys ....

vjg13 · 19/01/2020 13:53

Not to worry you but If they handle it like they did with the dryers, some of the new machines will still have the fault. I had one of the dryers that was affected and managed to get a refund, mainly by emailing their CEO repeatedly (it was about 2.5 years old) and was able to buy a different brand dryer.

Would never buy from this family of brands again, their customer service is appalling.

One of my machines is affected too. After having a dangerous dryer from them I don't want a replacement. I want a refund so I can buy another brand.

No way will I ever trust their products again

My email says they will plumb it in and take the old one away katielilie

Follow the links here and you will be able to find if you model is affected and what you need to do about getting a replacement.

KurriKurri · 19/01/2020 14:11

It is a whirlpool site - but hotpoint and indesit also included
