I'm 42 I have been in a job I don't much like for a long time as I've not wanted to move on as we wanted another child. It didn't happen.. until last year when it did but I miscarried at 8 weeks. It's taken a while to build up to try again and we have just started trying again .. didn't happen this month but I'm still hopeful. In the meantime I've been offered a new job which sounds perfect .. I really want to take it but I can't if I'm still ttc. But if I stop that's it... no more kids. Tbh .. even if we keep trying it may well not happen anyway or go wrong again if it does because of my age.I just can't take a new job and get pregnant though.. so I will have to stop and forget about more kids if I take it

Such a dilemma!

Take the job and continue trying to conceive. A man would be able to do this and so should you. Maternity leave is there for a reason. Otherwise no woman who wants a baby would be able to have a career.

Take the job.
Continue to try TTC.
I assume your Dp would do this?
We want equality? We have to behave like we do.

What everyone else said. You are over thinking this. Plenty of people start a new job and quit within the first few months, so don't guilt trip yourself.

take the job and continue ttc, obviously. you are well protected as you should be. there is no reason why you can't have a nice new job and a baby in 2019.

I think I will take it but stop ttc for a few months as I really don't want to complicate matters with that but I do worry then I'll be putting myself in a worse situation.. but at the same time I think it probably won't happen anyway .. ☹️

Dilemma, take the job, and keep ttc. After 2 miscarriages, I was offered a fab job. Took it, and got pregnant 4 months later. Sure, it wasn't ideal but I'm still in the job after 10 years and have a 9 year old gorgeous DS, so things worked out in the long run!

Mumsnet at its best. We are right. Take. The. Job.

Also - do NOT tell them and do NOT pause TTC for “six months”. Time isn’t on your side, and honestly in some ways you being pregnant earlier is easier than later from an employer POV so waiting doesn’t actually solve anything.

Good luck!

Take the job. Keep trying. I started work in April. Told them I was pregnant in December and everyone is delighted. I’ll have been there 1 when I actually go on leave.
