You know when you feel a bit meh and just want to listen to sad songs or love ballads? That’s how I’m feeling.
What should I add?

All of Skeleton Tree by Nick Cave, especially if you know about his son.

lilgreen · 20/01/2020 19:09
Just had to have a listen. Alison Moyet is superb on this.
nowlook · 20/01/2020 19:14

Depends how cross you are.

I love many of these.

I'm gonna tear your playhouse down - Ann Peebles is my righteous indignation song.

nowlook · 20/01/2020 19:22

And if you just fancy a cry but are generally happy:

Woman - John Lennon
Avalon- Roxy Music
Luca- Suzanne Vega
Bit of Crowded House

Slightly more contemporary:

Anything by Razorlight (America; Fall, Fall Fall);
Show me love (The Wanted)

Skap · 20/01/2020 19:30

@lilgreen That Yazoo track instantly transported me back to 1982, I used to play that album over and over and Midnight was my favourite song. Haven't heard it in years.

LookDontTeuch · 20/01/2020 19:33

Dresden - By The Slow Show (super dramatic!)

In Shadows Under Trees - The Hazey Janes

Running up That Hill also.

lilgreen · 20/01/2020 19:51

Time after time by Cyndi Lauper gives me 13 yr old at the school disco angst.

JoyceDivision · 20/01/2020 19:53

Sundial in the shade, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot, it is a brilliant song about domestic violence but haunting

Blackbird on the Wire - Beautiful South

A different corner - George Michael

TheNestedIf · 20/01/2020 20:34

I'd definitely second Dry Your Eyes Mate, Creep, Johnny Cash's Hurt and Nothing Compares.

My contribution...

And So It Goes - Billy Joel

The Prettiest Eyes - Beautiful South

The Detectorists - Johnny Flynn

No Alarms And No Surprises - Radiohead (yes, Radiohead again)

goldenwarbler · 20/01/2020 20:36

Wires by athlete also makes me cry

lilgreen · 20/01/2020 20:53

Wires makes me cry too. I know it’s about a new born baby but when it was out my 4 year old was in hospital with a burst appendix and it just summed it up! Takes me straight back 15 years when I here it.
