I have had enough of my family so I am heading off to London for the day next Saturday. Please can someone recommend a lovely Indian restaurant for a lovely solo lunch?

Tayyabs in Whitechapel 🤤

Dishoom has gone downhill IMHO. But the High St Ken branch is a lovely setting although food has been disappointing. Don’t go without a booking as the wait is long.

Darjeeling Express is nice. Cinnamon Club is a good option.

You can book at Dishoom for breakfast and lunch, but only for larger groups in the evenings.

Dishoom is a chain and you can’t usually book.
Cinnamon Club is much nicer. Fabulous cocktails too.

Rasa in Stokey is also fabulous.

Tandoor Chophouse and Brigadiers are both great (the latter is particularly amazing, although not cheap)

Gymkhana is lovely. But I think it had a fire and is closed.

Bombay Brasserie does the most amazing buffet lunch at weekends. Huge selection of food with a 'street food' station for starters,, lots of excellent veggie dishes and two or three meat or fish curries.
And a dessert station too.
It's in Gloucester Terrace, near Gloucester Rd tube station.
It's expensive but the mango Bellinis are wonderful.

The Rajdoot on Paddington St, Marylebone. Unpretentious, amazing food, sensible prices. And round the corner from Marylebone High Street for a lovely afternoon of window shopping Grin
