Didn't collect prescription from pharmacy in time so now it needs to be reissued by GP?

Is this common practice? If the prescription isn't collected in one week then it gets cancelled and has to be re-ordered from the GP again?

Is there no way the pharmacy can re-make it - surely they can see a prescription WAS prescribed and WASN'T collected, so the patient is entitled to the medication?

My pharmacy keeps things for 5 days and will send send text reminders to collect the prescription. If you don't collect then you need to reorder it.
