Dog chewed teens retainers

The dog has chewed my daughters retainers. They were free on the NHS but I know there is a cost to replace them. Chewed top and bottom set. Any idea of cost to replace?

My son had a retainer and orthodontist specifically warned us to keep it out of reach of the dog, so it must be a thing. Be grateful she didn't swallow it or you'd have a vet bill too!

My ds hasn't got his yet but we were at the orthodontist this week and they said new ones would be £50. Not sure if this I for top and bottom or only one.

£80 for my DDs.

Doesn't matter of she is discharged or not. Replaced if break during normal usage, but can't see why NHS should foot the bill when carelessness caused the damage.
How far should that extend?

@speakout did I say the NHS should foot the bill?!
