2 adults, budget up to £200 a night. We will be going out of school holidays mid week.

I also forgot to mention Hipping Hall. Although not in the Lakes, it's just outside Kirkby Lonsdale, which is in itself lovely.

Lindeth Howe did used to belong to Beatrix Potter. It is amazing, we have stayed there and also popped in for the afternoon tea. It is beautiful

That's sad about the Wild Boar. The rooms were lovely last time we stayed and the food great.

It was over a year ago though. We loved the fact it was so relaxed.

The inn on the lake is lovely and ideal location.

How about Daffodil Hotel in Grasmere, it also has a spa and apparently does a great afternoon tea. It is on the road but right next to the lake, just ask for a room away from the road.

The burnside hotel and spa it looks down on lake windermere.
They have rooms as well as apartments? Ive stayed in both as a couple and the apartments with the kids.
You can also use the spa during your stay included in the price.

I’ve stayed all over the Lakes and hands down the Inn on the Lake, Ullswater is the absolute best. it’s beautiful, classy and understated. And the four poster bedrooms overlooking the lake and mountains are to die for.

I would avoid Windermere, too touristy, Ullswater is much prettier. I don’t rate the Daffodil, it didn’t know what it wanted to be, (trying too hard to be something it isn’t) and the Wild Boar is really nothing special.
