You let them do your kitchen and didn't ask what it was for?

You can't just leave it at that! I You need to know what the hell it's for?

It looks so dangerous!

GingerNutts · 17/01/2020 19:33

Apologies I read your title as 'what is this thing built into OUR kitchen worktop'.

RoomR0613 · 17/01/2020 19:34

Ooh lipz even if that's not what it is it would be useful for that. Until the child no longer needs a highchair and then it becomes a coat hook

Wolfcub · 17/01/2020 19:34

Designed by someone who has never moved around a busy kitchen in their life.

Sumsuch · 17/01/2020 19:34

Is there a prize for the right answer?

Toddler hitching station ( dungarees sold separately)

Longdistance · 17/01/2020 19:36

Do you rest your mixing bowl onto it and lean against it with your hip to keep it stable and mix away?!

Bubblysqueak · 17/01/2020 19:37

Is it for resting your pregnancy bump or just fat belly when you're cooking?

Ostanovka · 17/01/2020 19:38

I just googled it and got this thread, clearly the internet has never heard of it either!

peachgreen · 17/01/2020 19:39

Well this so going to drive me bonkers.

Aquamarine1029 · 17/01/2020 19:39

It's a hip bone smasher for people who desire bruises on their hips at all times.

I have NEVER seen whatever the hell that is in my life.

GingerNutts · 17/01/2020 19:40

Where did you see it?

elephantoverthehill · 17/01/2020 19:41

It's waist measurer. If you can't fit into it you are not allowed to bake cakes.

Hirsutefirs · 17/01/2020 19:42

It’s a go- no-go dwarf gauge.

GlamGiraffe · 17/01/2020 19:42

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens what brand is the kitchen it might help us solve the mystery

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 17/01/2020 19:42

It looks like it exists solely to injure the person cooking. I'd walk into that repeatedly Confused

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 17/01/2020 19:44

Okay for those asking why I didn't ask in the shop is because we had to leave in a hurry (toddler DS was bored and kicking off) and I didn't get chance to ask!

Is that not a lift of wooden board? with the setting it almost looks like it could be designed to be stood at while rolling out pastry, kneading bread etc, would help to keep trousers clean I know I always manage to get flour down them when baking.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 17/01/2020 19:46

@GlamGiraffe it's DIY Kitchens, you actually buy them online but the showroom is in Pontefract.

Well you will just have to go back!!!

MrsEricBana · 17/01/2020 19:46

So it looks to me like that's some kind of bespoke wooden baking station thingo that can go on the island. Have asked baking guru pal...

GlamGiraffe · 17/01/2020 19:47

Have bow asked sister. She and BIL own a kitchen company. If they dont know.....

MrsEricBana · 17/01/2020 19:47

(And I'm really hoping it is indeed a waist measurer to assess one's suitability for cake baking and consumption)

StealthPolarBear · 17/01/2020 19:49

APatchyTomCat I loved your comment and your very clever name!

Twolittlebears · 17/01/2020 19:49

Hang food waste bin off it? Scrape in the peelings etc?

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 17/01/2020 19:50

Is it a very woke bin? So you hook a bin bag over each 'hook' thus leaving you with an open, deconstructed refuse container?
