Sending your child to nursery when you're at home

Hello
I just wanted to get opinions on this situation.

I'm currently ill with S&D and have to stay away from work for 48 hours.

My DD is 13 months and normally goes to a nursery on Friday morning and I pick her up at 1.

I spoke to a friend earlier and she said she thought it was awful that I'd send my DD to nursery when I'm at home. I argued that I'm not well and want nothing more than to curl up on the sofa. I haven't had any time to myself since going back to work.

Now I feel awful and think maybe I should keep her home with me. What would you do?

Dh and I occasionally take the day off, pack ours off to school and nursery and then walk ourselves off to the pub for long boozy lunches. Wine Why wouldn’t you send her? You’ve paid for it and you’re ill.

We have an annual “grown up bike ride without tag along or trailers” day. The dc can knock out a fair few miles in their own bikes quite happily now, but we still do it.

I did this when I ds was in nursery. I even took the occasional day as leave when I wasn't ill just to have some down time.

The only thing that would make me think twice in your situation is that just until 1 isn't that long and you'll have to drag yourself out to pick her up again in no time!

And yes, kept D's in nursery when I was on maternity leave with DD. It was routine for him and meant I didn't need to worry about getting him a place when I went back to work. Plus I had some time to just relax with new baby without also needing to keep a toddler entertained / fed etc.

Me too @MrsEss. And the cost was entirely covered by childcare vouchers and his 15 hours!

You’d be nuts to have a small child with you at home when you’re sick and they could be having fun at nursery.
