Just been into the village and saw a lady jogging in the rain with a T-shirt and no hat.

That's a level of dedication I won't ever possess.

Eh? Which bit was dedication?

Huh?! People exercise all year round you know!
There’s a phrase my Bootcamp instructor yells at us when we’re doing burpees and sit-ups on a filthy muddy park floor while it rains - “SUMMER BODIES ARE MADE IN WINTER!” And yes, he really shouts it!
While I understand the sentiment, I do actually exercise year round because it’s better for me, not so I look good in a bikini (I don’t!).

Running in the rain is great. Less sweaty!

AdoptedBumpkin · 16/01/2020 14:35

I realise that. Was just impressed that she was out in this weather while I waddled past in my big coat.

What would you expect her to wear? If I was out running in this weather I'd only be wearing short sleeves and there's no way you'd get a hat near me!

Exercise makes me very hot, I'm guessing I'm not the only one. I'm more baffled at the idea that you'd wrap up warm for exercise (except specific snow based ones which are entirely different).

AdoptedBumpkin · 16/01/2020 14:38

I suppose I was more surprised she was out at all. Apart from the weather, the pavements were not entirely safe.

Same here. I joined couch to 5k last spring and loved it. But just couldn’t keep up this time of year as it’s so miserable. I’m hoping to start again this year and try to keep going this time.

HoldMyLobster · 16/01/2020 14:40

I'm in Maine and I often see people jogging when it's well below zero, on icy pavements, in the dark with head torches. I fall over just walking along icy pavements [shameface]

OTOH I exercise indoors every day in winter.

I run in every kind of weather; I can be in shorts and a vest almost all year round but MUST have my gloves on when cold!! Sometimes runs in the wind and rain and the most exhilarating. I also run every morning before work no matter what which currently needs a head torch.
