What's normal for a new puppy

Next door got a new puppy just before Christmas. One of them works mainly from home, but is out and about every day for prolonged periods. When the puppy is alone it yelps and whimpers all the time. I am not sure what is normal, should it be so distressed for 2-3 hours at a time?

I am not complaining about the noise btw, I have two under 5 who like to be up and about at 5am and next door have never batted an eyelid.

For a puppy to get used to being by itself it needs to be left on it's own. I personally wouldn't leave a puppy that long to start off with though. Mine hates being left on her own even for 20 minutes Hmm

Some dogs are vocal no matter how long the are left for.

Anything and everything is normal for many puppies. But leaving one alone for that long is not pleasant.

If you get on with them let them know. They may be unaware that their puppy is showing any signs of separation anxiety.

When we got ours we asked next door to let us know if he seemed distressed when we left him alone. They reported that he occasionally barked and whined for but 5 minutes but no more.
