Dog with a dummy??

Just wondering if this is quite normal or what the reason may be?

Recently we keep meeting a man walking a dog that always has a baby dummy sticking out of its mouth - literally sucking on it.

I've never seen this before. I don't know the man to ask him but just wondered why a dog would have a dummy?

The dog obviously likes it. I knew a dog whose favourite toy was a grubby old empty cola bottle.
Dogs are weird.

Ours has been known to carry half a brick!!

Some dogs like to carry stuff

Bad idea our vets have removed many a dummy teat from a dogs stomach or intestines in emergency surgery.

Dogs are weird. I'd be worried if it was chewing and ingesting otherwise let it go.

Just ask him. He'll be expecting questions about it, I'm sure! Probably the dog likes to carry it around, or they've trained it as a way to control unwanted behaviour like barking or eating random shit on the walk.

Some dogs are weird

My old dog managed to pinch a dummy and was sucking on it

We took a picture as it was cute...but took it off her in case she swallowed it

Was it a Labrador? They love carrying weird things around. Mine has to take a sock on every walk. He doesn't play with them, chew them or anything just goes and gets one out of the washing basket at the first mention of the W word. Wont leave the house without one, sits down, cries and whines and refuses to go anywhere until I let him get a sock. All waggy tail as soon as he has one. Soon as we get in he drops it and couldn't be less interested. Weird animal. 🤣

As a dc we had a huge rotty who slept only with a train ticket in her mouth.
Our current rotty has a Peppa Pig to cuddle!!

Mine will always pick up lost dummies in her mouth and carry around with her, however chews them up when she gets home

My late Dmum had a cat that would suck her back paw. We used to joke that we should get her a dummy.

My staffy had a favorite stone. He took it all over the place. He had it for ten years.
