Could this be an undetected twin?

I'm posting a link for reference. If you notice at 8:07 in the video, the baby's head is on the left side and then at 8:30 it's on the right. This is exactly what happened at my 12 week scan. I'm looking at the monitor, I see the baby's head on the left and then as soon as the sonographer moved the probe, the baby's head appears on the opposite side which made me wonder if there's another baby. I dont know I could be wrong. I asked the sonographer and she said there's only one. Can anyone explain this to me?

Well I'm not a sonographer so I'd trust the expert you spoke to's opinion 🤷‍♀️ I can't see anything based on the timings you mentioned

She’s reversed the image. It looks like she was trying to see something and couldn’t and so reversed the image to get a better view. Definitely 1 baby.

They do just around a bit. My scan wasn't as detailed as yours but ds was springing all over the place. I'm not medical but I'm guessing it's a singleton.

At 12 weeks they'd clearly be able to see another fetus in there. Looks like only one to me!

Indilla I was wondering if there was something like reversing the image or mirror image in an ultrasound. I just wanted to confirm so that I dont become too hopeful.

If the orientation of the probe is changed (turned through 90 degrees) it will appear that the baby has flipped sides.

Owwlie · 14/01/2020 20:01

Pretty sure it’s just one and it’s just flipped the angle of the image OP, if you look then the grey/white part (the placenta?) also flips sides.

Did the baby not move? It feels very weird to look inside someone else's womb.

lilgreen · 14/01/2020 20:59

Wow you get videos now????

Tabby206 · 14/01/2020 21:30

@lilgreen this is not my video. I found a similar one on youtube.

@Poetryinaction in ky case, I saw the baby move.

@tabby206 Yes it’s very common to reverse the image to get different measurements etc. It looks like she was trying to get a nuchal measurement on that video. If you’ve ever seen an ultrasound of twins at 12 weeks you will see it’s very clear there is a second. I’ve NEVER cared for anyone who was told 1 baby and had twins.
