Hi all posted in property but no responses so hoping for more traffic...we’re considering a move to Hinckley or Burbage as we both work in a town close to these two areas. Currently live about 35 mins commute from work and we’re keen to buy together and have a shorter commute. House prices are very reasonable in Hinckley/Burbage from what we’ve seen and we hear from colleagues that Hinckley has been developed recently. Partner is from south Warwickshire so he’s used to town life, I’m from Birmingham and lived in Solihull previously so am used to being very very close to a big city.

I know Hinckley/Burbage is near to cities but things like nights out or going to a city in the evening for example would require a train journey (last trains are around 11pm /overnight stay rather than a 15 min taxi etc. Solihull would be my choice as I loved living there but the two main significant cons when we did a comparison was far more expensive and still a 40/45 minute commute even though the area has everything I’d be looking for. I do like the idea of Hinckley/Burbage but looking for opinions/advice on what it’s like to live there, schools, bars/pubs and specific parts of them to look to buy? Thanks

Hi, I live in this area. If going out is a bigger thing for you then I'd definitely say Solihull, but travel to Hinckley/Leicester will be burdensome and then some.

Burbage has always been considered 'posher' than Hinckley. Burbage has a good selection of pubs and Friday/Saturday night always draws a lot of people.

Hinckley is better value for money in terms of house prices. Schools are ok in both.

Traffic is the biggest issue in Hinckley, one road in one road out, and the home of a ridiculous amount of traffic lights!

Excellent choice of supermarkets in Hinckley. Town is slowly regenerating with a good choice of independent shops.

Burbage doesn't really have shops other than a couple of local shops, a barbers, chip shop and Indian.

In terms of where to buy, the Stoneygate estate (not really an estate) is good value for money and within good school catchment areas. Avoid Wykin estate (near Redmoor High School), Tudor Road area, William Iliffe area. Everywhere else is ok.

Burbage, pretty much anywhere but personally I'd avoid the vicinity near Hastings High School.
