Have 2 days in Prague in May. Whistle stop trip really...where's best to go see things, foods to eat? Etc...

Prague is a bit overrun these days. Other than the Old Town Square, a must see, I would recommend a tour of the Jewish Quarter and to spend the other day with a trip to the Castle and a wander around Mala Strana, ending with the Charles Bridge.

Great thanks some nice ideas here. What foods could I expect to find?

There used be lots of traditional restaurants doing roast duck with dumplings and roast cabbage. We had a lovely meal on a boat with a view of the Charles Bridge. marinaristorante.cz/en/menu/aktualita/?utm_source=tripadvisor&utm_medium=referral

And had a nice lunch here: www.facebook.com/pages/Velkopřevorský-Mlýn/143838909015104

Traditional foods are roast meat - especially pork, dumplings, potatoes, red cabbage, goulash, meatloaf etc. You can get anything at all these days though.

We went for DDs 21st birthday. The old part of the town (castle, cathedral) is just gorgeous, with cobbled streets and lovely welcoming cafes. We loved that part, and the funicular railway up to the tower. The other part of the town across the river built around the squares is grim... shops full of tourist tat, people hassling you non stop to do segue tours, and overpriced restaurants/bars.

I'm glad we went, but I really wish that we had gone 20 years ago before it was ruined by tourism.

We stayed at the Hilton right next to the river, which was a modern but really lovely hotel away from the main part of the city. Food was excellent.

We went in 2001 and loved it. Did a walking tour, the Jewish quarter, the castle and Charles Bridge and the telephone tower. Got a bus to the concentration camp nearby. Wasn't too touristy then, but I'd definitely go back.
