Save me from my Amazon gift bags

I have about 10000000 (ok, about 20 but they're taking over the wrapping drawer). Those organza drawstring ones. They ought to be Useful so I've kept them but actually I don't tend to use them for gifts as everyone knows they're from A. So what do I do with them? Failing any useful purpose, do they recycle as textiles? I'm sure someone has cracked this - give me your ideas please!

Put them on Gumtree?? People will snap up anything free on Gumtree.

mamapants · 12/01/2020 12:24

Why does it matter if people know they are from amazon when it comes to reusing them.
I think they are great

Sparklingplasters · 12/01/2020 12:26

I used mine to gift things and also to send stuff to charity shop in.

Knitwit99 · 12/01/2020 12:26

How do people know they are from Amazon, does it say on them? I only ever get masses of brown paper in my packages.

But I often use those bags to keep knitting projects together so someone out there will definitely find them useful.

ChillyB · 12/01/2020 12:27

I used ours to pack away Christmas decorations.

HuggedTrees · 12/01/2020 12:28

We’ve switched to using them to cut down on wrapping, so presents to each other go in them so they can be reused in the house/family, also tell friends the same so they can Re use them.

Hercwasonaroll · 12/01/2020 12:29

Charity shops

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/01/2020 12:31

I've never had an organza drawstring bag from Amazon (everything comes in jiffy bags or card) but I get my wool delivered in them and find them very useful so I'm sure someone will take them off your hands.

IncrediblySadToo · 12/01/2020 12:36

I’ve never had one. Do you only get them if you pay for the gift to be gift wrapped?

As others have said they’ll get snapped up in a charity shop or online selling.

I use organza gift bags for knitting/crochet projects, storing balls of Wool, & other odd things (kids toys like Lego kits) and small bits when I’m travelling or just in my every day bag.

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/01/2020 12:38

I take the small ones to the supermarket for loose fruit and veg

OneMoreForExtra · 12/01/2020 12:46

Good suggestions, thank you!

We do have an internal family tradition of using them to cut down on wrapping- but I only need one for that. Charity shop and a couple of craft bags for the others I think

What sort of things are coming from Amazon in them?

BarbaraofSeville · 12/01/2020 13:05

I don't think that 'everyone knows they're from A(mazon?)' because I get quite a lot from Amazon and I have no idea what you are on about.

Anyway, we should be promoting the idea of using recycled materials as gift wrapping for the sake the planet.

TeenPlusTwenties · 12/01/2020 13:08

They're what Amazon gift wraps in.

I have decided that next Christmas I will use my small pile for immediate family (to make sure they stay in the house). As time goes on I expect the pile to increase.

OneMoreForExtra · 12/01/2020 13:11

If you select gift wrap and get something sent to someone as a gift, they come in an organza drawstring bag with shiny dots. Rather nice actually - but I seem to have a lot of people sending my kids their gifts via Amaxon and have exhausted my storage and reuse capacity!

Ah, we've never had anything gift wrapped, so I didn't know about this.

letmebefrank · 12/01/2020 13:15

I love them. Use them at birthdays to cut down on wrapping paper waste.

SoupDragon · 12/01/2020 13:17

How big are they?

When I order wool it comes in an organza bag - I send them to Woolly
Hugs.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/01/2020 13:19

I'm pretty sure that Woolly Hugs (charity knitting and crocheting group set up by Mumsnetters) uses them.

FredaFox · 12/01/2020 13:19

Oooh mine didn't have dits, all green but very nice, can you get different sizes as ours was huge but will be reused

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/01/2020 13:20

X-post with SoupDragon.

MrsWombat · 12/01/2020 13:24

I would see if you have a local facebook group for environmental/eco issues. Someone on there will snap them up. You will need to explain what they are used for though as it won't be obivous!

mamaoffourdc · 12/01/2020 13:33

I'll buy them off you! I love them!
