Nintendo Switch vs Switch Lite?

Hi

Just trying to gather opinions on a little dilemma I have!
It's DD's 5th birthday coming up in a week and she loves Mario and playing games. I don't want anymore toys in the house after all that she got for Christmas, so a Nintendo Switch seemed like a good option.
However, the main console is out of stock absolutely everywhere (besides eBay where it's stupid prices) until February. So should I get her the handheld 'Lite' instead?
Apparently it plays the same games and battery life is in fact slightly better although it's only about £50 cheaper than the full console.
If I chose to get her the full console then I'd have to try to explain to her that she won't get it until after her birthday and find some other things for her to open on the actual day (obviously I will anyway). I'm just concerned that if I get her the Lite that I may end up wishing I'd just paid the extra £50 to get the full console Confused Although she is an only child so unless I'm playing with her, which I will occasionally, she'll be playing alone mostly anyway.

For those who aren't familiar with the Switch, the full console is both a handheld device as well as a console which connects to the TV. The 'Lite' version does not connect to the TV.

WWYD?! Thanks SmileBrew

I'd go for the full console. You can play together then much more easily.

We are also a one child family, but the full Switch was worth it for our DD as when she has friends over the can play together. So I'd get that, even if she has to wait a while.

I think the switch is worth it, it’s fun to play together and it gives the option of playing on your own on a bigger screen.

Full console so you can play together, currently have a house full and it's pouring down so, we've baked and played games now they are playing a tournament on mario kart, it's great having the option of multiplayer games.

Im a Nintendo fangirl and we have both a Switch and a Switch Lite (Don't judge me, I never get a look in on the Switch with the kids so I bought myself a switch lite for train journeys, work trips away etc).

I would say get the nornal switch too I'm afraid. Its more flexible as you can play at home on the tv and out and a out. The switch kite is great but for me its a secondary switch.

Have you tried the UK Nintendo Shop website? They sent me an email today saying it was coming back in stock.

We have both the switch and the switch lite in our house. The switch lite is absolutely fantastic, if you don't mind that it doesn't Dock to the TV. For me, it would depend if you were buying her the console for sole use, or if u intended to play as a family. If sole use, 1000% go down the lite route otherwise, id have a scout around and get the main console, quite a few supermarkets have them instock atm
