How do you name a business?

I have the opportunity to sell some of my artwork/crafts through a local cafe but I need a name for my fledgling business, how do I pick one?

I am finding it really hard.

What type of things do you sell? Where abouts in the country are you?

Whynosnowyet · 10/01/2020 22:10

I used a previous pet's name for mine...

Wheresthebiffer2 · 10/01/2020 22:12

google to check any name you are considering hasn't already been used. ie is the website available etc. no point in choosing a good one if you aren't going to be able to market it.
if you have an unusual name, start with that?

I picked mine with a play on words - I’ve never regretted it, many people mention it and smile.

Drabarni · 10/01/2020 22:28

I would agree with the play on words.
I'm forming ideas atm and my list are all self explanatory, you wouldn't have to ask what I did, iyswim.

CormoranStrike · 11/01/2020 10:24

To add, I am best of both worlds - business name is Xxxxxxx - then a sub head explaining what we do.

LemonCakeCat · 13/01/2020 22:07

I make/decorate wall hangings and picture frames and other items using a paint technique and resin. It's all very swirly and has a glassy finish. Looks very cool.

I would would ideally like something that gives an idea if what I do but at the same time sticks in your mind.

Your username is pretty good! As for what to avoid...the endless ‘Tarquinius and Penelope’/ ‘Sharon and Tracy’/ ‘Boris and Dom’ style names seem to be everywhere.

LemonCakeCat · 13/01/2020 22:45

Grin the user name was simply what was in front of me at the time, a cake and my cat.
Unfortunately there is already resin-ate or something similar.

Come up with ideas then go to www.namecheap.com/ and check if there's a domain name available that you can use.

Rinse and repeat about a million times.

StarlightLady · 14/01/2020 07:32

I would suggest a business name, suggests exactly what that business does and notva random name or word.

Redonion123 · 14/01/2020 07:43

Either use your name, description of activity or a local place name.
