Facebook - privacy - public comments question

I can hear many sighs already, sorry Grin

I have had a few Facebook accounts over the years and end up deleting them after a while because I'm fed up of the silly posts and fakery.

I now need to be on FB again as I have to have a FB business page, I use a fake second name and have very few contacts on there but some folk find me through my phone number/WhatsApp is connected I think and add me.
I don't post anything myself but I do like to comment on things I am interested in/have an opinion on.

My question is, is there any way to stop fb contacts from having my comments on whatever's public page come up on their timeline??

This is a real bugbear of mine.

Would putting people on a restricted list prevent them seeing all my activity?

I hate the lack of privacy. Anyone?

you can stop contacts seeing your FB page by restricting it to only me in the privacy settings. Hopefully they wouldnt find you in the first place then! I am not sure about comments though - sorry!

Yeah, when I change profile picture I don't do it for likes or comments so I select 'only me'.

It's just purely when I comment on a news post or other public page I hate how every contact can see it as it appears on their newsfeed.

Maybe the answer is to just not comment on anything and get another account for that.

When commenting on other posts, do you do so using your profile or the business profile page?

SkinRash · 10/01/2020 18:56

Just as myself.
I wouldn't want to use business page for opinions on current affairs.

No, when you comment on a public page or public group or like something that is public, your comments show on your friends newsfeed. There's no way of turning this off unfortunately.
