If it’s not a UTI what’s going on?

Sorry not sure if I’ve posted in right place - will ask to move if not. I’m 15 weeks preg and have a very sore aching pain In my bladder. The pain was so bad yesterday I had to take paracetamol (I hardly ever take pain killers) and I was bent over. I also feel like my morning sickness has become worse. It feels like a uti but dr thinks otherwise. Don’t have fever, urine has been tested and is clear. Dr will see if a culture is grown but won’t come back till Tuesday. Only thing that has helped today is drinking lots of lucozade. Anyone know what’s going on?

"It feels like a uti but dr thinks otherwise."

What does the doctor think it is then?

(Sorry you are feeling so unwell btw!)

Thank you Lemon - I only spoke to
Dr on the phone as I dropped my wee off for dipping this morning without proper appointment. Dr wasn’t very specific said just to watch and wait over weekend but ro phone triage / out of hours if things deteriorate / if I get fever etc,

Is it a constant pain, or only when you wee?

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 10/01/2020 16:50

How long have you been having symptoms? Was your urine sample very diluted?

Some of my samples in the past haven’t shown an infection because I’ve been drinking so much water in at attempt to get rid of the infection.

If it is a uti, lucozade isn’t a good idea due to bacteria loving high sugar content.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 10/01/2020 16:52

Just to add, if things do get worse with fever etc, do call 111. They will book you an urgent appointment with your nearest out of hours dr.

It’s constantly aching - a sort if sicky pain that radiates when I step if you know what I mean - it reminds me a bit of the first hours of when I had an appendicitis but it’s in the middle not to the side (and that’s been removed). Thanks PP -good advice.

My wee was yellow not clear so I’m guessing it wasn’t too dilute.

It’s quite early but it could be a varicose vein (you can get these in the vagina/vulva and they do sort of ache/sting). It could also be SPD pain that is radiating into a nerve around the urethra. I’m assuming you’ve never had herpes? That can flare up in pregnancy as well, but you’d probably know that’s what it was in that case.

mindutopia · 10/01/2020 17:24

But if it’s more in your lower pelvis and not in the urethra, I would assume SPD.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 10/01/2020 18:06

Is it painful when you wee? I’ve had many uti over the years and what you describe sounds unusual.

I do sometimes get strong ovulation pain, and have experienced pain that radiates when my foot hits the floor as I walk with that. And also when I sit. That feeling is a constant ache. I’m not a dr but it does sound like it could be to do with the pregnancy.

kemosabeimalone · 11/01/2020 08:18

It’s painful after I wee if I’ve held on too long (like on the night) and it can feel like my bladder is not fully empty. Thanks to those who mentioned SPD - I feel a bit stupid as I had that mildly with my first pregnancy (In 3rd trimester) but as it was 11 years ago I’d forgotten. From memory I had the feeling of pressure and fullness in my pelvis (Like a magic 8 ball was wedged between my legs!) which is not dissimilar to what I feel now- if pain continues I’ll definitely bring it up with midwife. Mumsnetters are amazing - I knew you’d give good guidance!
