How long will GPs keep prescription for?

I gave in my repeat prescription request for the doctor to sign on the Friday after Christmas. Since going back to work I have completely forgotten to collect it for filling and probably cant get there until Friday evening now 🤦‍♀️. Random I know but just popped into my mind and overthinking as usual!

Can’t you ring them and check? All ours are sent automatically to the pharmacy now.

You should be ok. A prescription is valid for 6 months unless it’s a controlled drug in which case it’s only a month.

Yes I shall ring them tomorrow was just having a night time panic 😂

Like aibu my pharmacy hold my script and I phone them when I need supplies. From memory they then deliver a month's supply. Haven't actually been into the surgery for many months.
