Vegan Galaxy

Just tried this and I'm sad to say was seriously disappointed.

Nice appearance, but the taste is waxy, over-sugary and not melt-in-the-mouth as it should be.

To me it is more like cheap cake covering than luxury chocolate.

Sorry, Galaxy. From me it's a 'thanks for trying'.

I was disappointed by its lack of chunkiness

BobLobLawLLB · 08/01/2020 16:57

All chocolate is shite nowdays.

Paythosebitchesnomind269 · 08/01/2020 17:02

Vego bars are still my favourite or the rhythm 108s

I liked it even though I thought it tasted like an old school advent calendar chocolate (mainly sugar!) but it gave me horrendous heartburn!

inwood · 08/01/2020 17:03

It's never going to be the same as proper chocolate.

ParsleyPot · 08/01/2020 17:22

Thumbs up for the recyclable packaging.

(Shame about the contents)

Galaxy is not luxury chocolate. Also any dark chocolate is vegan (no milk)

yadayadayesokay · 08/01/2020 17:40

I was disappointed with it too. It’s so thin! I haven’t had galaxy for many, many years but I thought it would be more similar in taste & chunkier.

PurpleDaisies · 08/01/2020 17:41

That’s a shame. I haven’t managed to find one yet. Maybe I won’t bother hunting any more.

lastqueenofscotland · 08/01/2020 17:42

I actually quite liked the chocolate orange one but not for the price
After eights and cheap equivalents are vegan generally and are good for a quick fix

AllideasAndNoAction · 08/01/2020 17:42

What did you expect? Almost every vegan substitute food aiming to replicate the taste or texture of meat, eggs or dairy tastes disappointing at best and foul at worst. There are no decent substitutes for some things. Just learn to live without them anything else is not worth the calories.

NotJustACigar · 08/01/2020 17:43

Vego bars are lush, as are their pralines. People have been raving about Nomo bars also but I prefer Vego myself.

ParsleyPot · 08/01/2020 17:45

@lastqueenofscotland sorry to break it to you, but After Eights contain cows' milk. Confused

HugsAreMyDrugs · 08/01/2020 18:24

Just buy ordinary dark chocolate. Much cheaper and nicer imo.

Gizlotsmum · 08/01/2020 18:26

Like the chocolate orange one but 'normal' galaxy also had a similar plastic taste....

PhilODox · 08/01/2020 18:27

Sad Aw, I was hoping that this was an actual place...

lastqueenofscotland · 08/01/2020 18:29

Ah i was always told they were. The sainsburys cheap fake ones are

HugsAreMyDrugs · 08/01/2020 18:31

Also proper chocolate is vegan. It is made from cocoa beans which is a plant.

Just because milk is added to make milk chocolate does not mean that chocolate without milk is somehow not real chocolate. It's ridiculous to suggest that it is.

VirtualHamster · 08/01/2020 18:35

After Eights used to be vegan, but they changed the recipe some years ago. A lot of the supermarket brand ones still are.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 08/01/2020 18:39

Just because you don't like something does not mean that it is disgusting or foul. It just means that you don't like it. Who would think that different people like different things Confused.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 08/01/2020 18:40

Jammy Dodger also used to be vegan. They're not anymore 😫.

ParsleyPot · 08/01/2020 18:47

@PhilODox Wink

A lot of people rate Tony’s chocolonely.

furrytoebean · 08/01/2020 20:13

Oh I like it.

But I prefer bournville. Especially the buttons.

ParsleyPot · 08/01/2020 20:28

I can vouch for Tony's being delicious. Shock
