UK weekend breaks ideas

Hi all, me and DH have decided we need to do a bit more exploring of the UK this year - for us and DD who is 7mo. We've decided to go to Newquay this May, but want to have a couple of other breaks this year, maybe in August and October. Where is good to take a 1 year old? Me and DH like walks, pubs and beaches, so will be happy pretty much anywhere, but I don't want DD to be bored! I quite like the idea of somewhere in Scotland for the summer but have only been once when I was 7, so would like some suggestions on where would be good to go there please! We're based in Portsmouth so will probably avoid there Wink Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

You have the Isle of Wight on your doorstep. North house in Cowes is lovely.
Dartmouth is good as walking, pottering, crabbing, boat and train trips, beaches. Good restaurants too. Dart Marina has some good deals.
Salcombe is lovely too. South Sands hotel is nice and gentle.
Somewhere like Sandbanks is good. Studland bay is lovely. Good walking. Brownsea Island. Pig on the beach is very nice. There used to be a baby friendly hotel called Knoll House but it might be a bit dated now.
Bradford on Avon with Wooly Grange hotel might suit.

Caswell Bay and the Gower in Wales. Beautiful beaches, lovely pubs. Great Chalet Park right beside Caswell beach.

West Wittering has a fabulous beach

Pembrokeshire in Wales is beautiful, also love north Devon around woolacombe area. The beach at Wells in Norfolk is lovely too.

Oh yes - Pembrokeshire is fab! Lots of great beaches and so much quieter than the beaches in England

Suffolk and Norfolk coast. Lovely towns and villages, beaches, seals, RSPB Minsmere and lot of other wildlife.

Thanks for these! Hadn't considered Wales or the Isle of Wight!

How about Cardiff? City and seaside. My DP and I are going there in a couple of weeks for a mini break.

aibutohavethisusername · 08/01/2020 20:55

New forest?

Landlubber2019 · 08/01/2020 20:56

Northumberland is simply stunning !

Reluctantbettlynch · 08/01/2020 22:31

Gower is amazing 😍

At 7m old you could spend a week in your back garden and your little one wouldn't be bored!

Go somewhere for you. At this age you have the opportunity to see whatever you want. In a couple of years you'll be more inclined to do kiddy friendly stuff.

Honestly. Wherever you go will be fine.

WindFlower92 · 10/01/2020 10:51

Thanks for these

@youcancallmequeenE true I suppose, but I'd feel guilty if we didn't plan for her as well!
