has 'king size' changed?

I've just got a king size duvet from John Lewis, and it's a good 6" longer than my duvet (which is definately king size). Has the sizing changed? It's a bit annoying, as I don't want to go to the faff of shortening it, and don't think they'll take it back, as I've already put it on the duvet.

I was actually wondering about this yesterday, I have a brushed cotton duvet cover from Dunelm I bought before Xmas and it's a couple of inches too big for my duvet (also both King size).

King size should be 225×230cm so about 6 inch longer than double at 200x200cm

Wait duvet or duvet cover? If it's a cover that's too big perhaps it's designed to use with a higher tog duvet? We use a 4.5 tog duvet and most covers are loose on it, but not when we had it joined to our higher tog duvet in the same cover.

I recently bought a kingsize cover from JL and certainly haven't got 6" overhang.
Guess it is possible that wrong size label has been sewn in at factory.
Can you measure it and compare to info online or packet if you still have it.

I wondered that recently, I have a king size mattress and sheets were always fine for it but the sheets I've bought over the last couple of years haven't sat snugly on the mattress and always wrinkle uncomfortably.

The confusion might be because duvet size and mattress size is different. The "matching" duvet size is about 20cm longer and a bit wider than the mattress.

How odd that the duvet is longer when you don't want it over the pillows so it could be shorter. I'd prefer it to be shorter tbh.

Ah, no that makes sense. It also explains why I hadn't thought of that - I have a wooden bedstead with solid head and foot board so the 'extra' is more obvious.
