It's my DS6 birthday v soon. And I'm totally stuck as to what to get him as he just got a load of stuff for Christmas! His favourite Xmas presents were a Numberblocks magazine bought at an extortionate price on eBay, a Paw Patrol plane, a Ghostbusters Playmobil car, and an Orchard Maths game. And a cuddly hippo he got in his stocking! Please can you tell me what were the big hits for your kids at Christmas to give me some ideas? Preferably boys aged around 5-8.

Both my 7 and 5 year olds have really enjoyed the Funny Bunny game which surprised me as my eldest isn’t usually into games! They also both have done the jigsaws they got.

Other than that Lego for the eldest and the glo- track and cars for the youngest.

For dd who is 6, definitely lego. Ds (7 months) an envelope. Grin

A slinky has been the surprise gift which has been played with since Christmas day.

I agree with junior monopoly, my 6 and 4 year old love it.

Orchard bug bingo, orchard shopping list are also big hits.

Fuzzkins. Little slyvian type creatures you can draw on and wash off. So far they do exactly what they say on the box. Great fun

DSS age 6, playmobile rocket, big art set with colouring pencils, paints etc and the vtech smartwatch bought from another family member, sorry can't remember exact name of it but he takes photos/plaus games on it etc

SisterSistine · 07/01/2020 22:34

Lego, he's been playing with it daily. We got him the Hidden Side stuff because he likes the magazine. Also a Kinetic Sand set. Which I resisted because I thought it would be messy but actually it's turned out fine.

Woulditbeworth · 07/01/2020 22:34

DS7 got a cheaper version of a fitbit and he has worn it everyday since Christmas. Didn’t buy the real thing because we predicted he’d get bored of it straight away but it is a massive hit.

BelfastSmile · 07/01/2020 22:39

DS is 5.5. Favourite presents were Lego, play-doh and (most epic of all) a craft set that my mum picked up for a few pounds, accompanied by a bottle of pva glue. He has spent hours sticking things to other things.

WRT board games, we got DS a couple of co-operative games and he likes those - you play as a team trying to defeat the game, so if you lose, you lose as a team. I think it's made him slightly better at losing!

Justgivemesomepeace · 07/01/2020 22:43

Ds is 6 and most played with are nerf guns, Labyrinth and Jumanji board games. Jumanji has pickled my brain and im still not sure were doing it right but he loves it.

Army stuff. Too bloody big.

Thankfully the laser nerf guns have only been played with a few times. But the soldier stuff most too

My 6 year old asked for a Ben10 rust bucket. I hate these types of toys and resisted but eventually caved in.

He has played with it every single day since
