Just been reminded that 10 years ago today the whole country was covered in snow and the papers had a satellite picture of the whole uk showing as white. What memories do people have of that winter? My birthday meal in late March was cancelled due to snow and I walked into work for months and the local roads were impassible.

I remember it well, had to trudge over a mile every morning for weeks in knee deep snow carrying a toddler as my car was snowed in and couldn't get a buggy though the snow.

It was my first date with my now DH 😁 very romantic as the snow came down and all trains were cancelled!

We were living on a boat, the hatches froze shut and we had to hairdryer a porthole so I could squeeze out. All our pipes and hoses froze solid and we had no water, so trying to warm up the interior DH built a roaring fire, turned all the heaters and then the kettle and shorted the electrics. We were due to get married that April and when he flicked on the kettle and all the power went out I nearly cancelled the wedding!!

My ds had been born on this day during a snow storm the year before so celebrated his 1st birthday during a snow storm too. I call him DS Snow Storm Born and he loves the snow to this day Smile it was minus 22 degrees that year too and we walked to the local park where the pond was frozen with the water spouts in the pond had frozen into huge mounds in the middle, all the lakes were frozen over and DH put me on driving restrictions, I wasn’t allowed to go further than my mum & dads house 8 miles away in case we got stuck in the ice. We actually did have to spend one night at mum & dads because all the hills were covered in ice and nobody could get up them. Happy memories Smile

I remember going for a long snowy walk with DP (now DH) on his birthday. Drinking hot choc say on an emergency blanket at the top of a big hill in the dark.

My child slipping because of the snow and breaking her wrist and us not realizing till the next day. We were in a different part of the country that year and couldn't believe how much snow there was! I grew up in a place that never got snow.

DS1 was conceived that day! 😂

I was I'll and missed most of the excitement. I think there was a snow day from work and I didn't get the benefit so I was a bit grumpy about all the lovely snow pictures on Facebook.
