Choosing paint colours moan!

They are all essentially the same. If I bought any one of them and used it I’m sure it would look nice. Why is it so bloody difficult to choose?

Just me then?

They aren't the same when they are on the wall. I just paint walls white. Less faff than finding out that whatever colour I thought looked nice on the chart looks garish or sickly on the walls.

What colour are you thinking of?

I’m totally with you. You look at millions of samples and you get to the point where you don’t know what you’re looking at any more. They all look the same. Then you use the stuff and it’s a completely different colour and continues to change, often even on the same day in the same room on the same wall but importantly none of those colours are the actual colour you wanted so you’ve got to start again and finally you find what you think is the right one and you have to use 20 coats to cover up the wrong one because for some reason it’s the strongest colour in the world and you keep missing bits which are massively obvious even though they’re actually all JUST SOME SORT OF OFF WHITE.

Glad I got that off my chest. In summary I agree.

The problem is I don’t really know what I want. Some sort of dark green to go on a wall with a chimney breast. Everything looks too teal, or too dark, or too light, or just not right. Maybe just painting everything white is the best idea!

Dark green is a bit vague. I'd just paint it all white.

Farrow and Ball Duck Green looks nice but it is dark.

Don’t tell me this, I was thinking of dark green for our sitting room. Aaaargh!

PurpleDaisies · 07/01/2020 20:16

I like the look of that duck green. That’s the sort of thing I was thinking of.

I've got a lovely colour called Glass Green in my study. Crown or Dulux, can't remember which
