Nervous about taking prescription

Hey all,

Has anyone ever felt slightly nervous before taking a brand new prescription? I've got suspect tendonitis/possibly torn muscle.

The pain has kept me up, it's been agony.

I've been given naproxin, Diazepam, paracetamol and Codiene. I'm so relieved to finally get pain relief but nervous about the side effects and woozyness!

Is Diazepam good?

Diazepam is good to an extent but can be highly addictive - I assume they've given you a short term prescription? I've never used it for pain relief, only anxiety.

I would say if you have concerns on how the medication will make you feel have a chat with your doctor or pharmacist. Naproxen and diazepam together could make you feel woozy, definitely, add coedine and you may feel like floating on air Grin

But yes, I always feel a bit nervous. And I've been regularly taking anti-anxiety medication for 20 years!

That is quite the prescription! Diazapam isn't given out much these days so you must be in agony, you will feel woozy i wouldn't plan to do much today and see howit goes.

Yes I feel nervous taking new medication I even read the side effects of antibiotics Blush

Can you be at home without caring responsibilities (small children etc) when taking them? They may make you feel quite odd and need to lie down / nap. Do you have a partner? I know one particular painkiller once made me feel most peculiar.

Well I cried on the doctor and have been so sleep deprived from the pain.

Ye, it's a short term for the Diazepam, less than a week.

I hope I can sleep tonight, sleep is the healer! Xx

Wow that is quite a prescription but personally found naproxen useless for tendinitis so if you are in that much pain give the diazepam a go. You will probably sleep though if you are not used to it, don't make plans

No, re: responsibilities, my daughter is at her Dfs til Thursday luckily xx

Just rest and enjoy the wooze Grin

happycamper11 · 07/01/2020 13:24

If you are responsibility and work free then take and enjoy the rest. By the time dc comes back you might have adjusted/worked out effects well enough to take at night when she's here

InsertFunnyUsername · 07/01/2020 13:26

Yes I've felt nervous, it's normal Smile

I was prescribed sleeping tablets and I read the leaflet front to back, scared i would fall asleep for days etc googled everything (Dont do that) and when I eventually took it you would have thought I just took an E Blush

Amber0685 · 07/01/2020 13:27

Wow quite a lot of medications given at once. Personally I would start taking the Paracetamol and Naproxen (take this one after food). If that doesn't improve things add the Codeine. Diazepam will help relax the muscle, it may make you drowsy though and shouldn't be used long term so I would take that only if the other 3 did not have an effect.

Franklymydearidontgiveadam · 07/01/2020 13:28

Haha yes insertfunny I'm convinced I won't wakeup til easter. X

Dose up and get that pain under control! Don't let the pain meds wear off, otherwise you are back at square one. So make a note of when your next doses are due and set an alarm on your phone.

Also - codiene can give you dreadful constipation so drink plenty of fluids and eat some prunes!

Franklymydearidontgiveadam · 07/01/2020 13:29

Thankyiu Amber x

Yes do note when you are taking them.

InsertFunnyUsername · 07/01/2020 13:31

You'll be fine OP Grin in fact you'll probably have the best sleep in a long time. Enjoy!

Nousernameforme · 07/01/2020 14:31

If you take the diazepam in about 20 mins you will not be worried about anything

Franklymydearidontgiveadam · 07/01/2020 17:03

The diaze is 2mg. I'm going to take it tonight about 8pm xx

Not to scare you,but I felt very nervous taking the prescribed drugs when I was in the midst of a mental breakdown 5 years ago following a head injury and post concussion syndrome. I had been prescribed lots of psychotropic drugs for my insomnia and anxiety including an antipsychotic drug as my anxiety was very severe. The side effects were the things that worried me the most, and unfortunately my fear was not unfounded... I ended up with a permanent drug induced neurological movement disorder from the antipsychotic drug.

BUT .. I am an exception to the norm and I urge you to ignore the above description of my personal experience. I was just incredibly unlucky and I highly doubt you are going to react to the prescribed drugs in the same way. I am just an unlucky bugger! Grin

The diazepam is great - you will feel better with taking it. I took some and it was the only one that I wanted to take - it does make you feel woozy and like you are drunk. You will be fine!Smile

Marcipex · 07/01/2020 17:21

Diazepam is the only one that helps me.
It makes me dopey but it’s great. Take it last thing and have a good sleep.
