Do you like January?

I feel a nice clean feeling in January- Christmas cleared away and everything sparse and hopeful for the year to come- are you January lovers or haters?

Hate it. Not fond of February either, the only redeeming factor is that it’s 3 (or 2) days shorter than January..

I’m basically in hibernation until the days start getting noticeably longer 😞

4forkssake · 07/01/2020 11:57

Hate January with a passion. It seems to last about 3 months, then the rest of the year goes by in a blink!

JuneFromBethesda · 07/01/2020 12:06

@4forkssake I agree

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2020 12:07

I don’t mind it but only because February is closer - which means lighter and some growth

confusedandemployed · 07/01/2020 12:08

Not keen on January, nothing going on. By February it's the 6nations and Dad's birthday, then we're into springtime.

January's only redeeming feature is that it's easy to stick to healthier eating / less drinking.

confusedandemployed · 07/01/2020 12:08

DD not Dad!

AfterSchoolWorry · 07/01/2020 12:08

Yeah, I do.

The relief that Christmas is over. Love it.

Redpriestandmozart · 07/01/2020 12:10

I love January, it's a month for detox, cleaning out the house, planning trips, decorating and looking towards spring. To be fair there isn't really a time of the year I hate, every time has it's place.

managedmis · 07/01/2020 12:11

Haters gonna hate!

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2020 12:11

Yeh I agree with each month brings its own thing too.

I’m liking January this year more than I used to.

Aderyn19 · 07/01/2020 12:12

I quite like it. I love Christmas and all the decorations but I also like feeling that my house is clean and clutter free. It helps that I've started the year without a massive credit card bill or bring overdrawn. Used to hate it when I was in debt though!

Damntheman · 07/01/2020 12:54

I usually quite like January. it's balls cold, the snow is just gorgeous, skies are usually clear and the daylight is starting to make an appearance again. It's rather lovely.

But this January? Ugh.. temperatures yoyoing around the zero degrees line so instead of beautiful powder snow we have sludge and sheet ice (with a delightful layer of wet on top for additional walking anywhere nightmare). It's sad!

frankincenseandmur · 07/01/2020 12:57

I hate January, and February really.

Hefzi · 07/01/2020 12:58

I'm not a fan - it always seems a hell of a lot longer than 31 days, despite having a Bank Holiday in

I think it's because you have the anticipation of Christmas in the winter, but January, all the excitement is gone, it's ages until Easter, it's still really dark both ends of the day (can't really see the nights drawing out yet) and though the bulbs are starting to come through, there's not many actually out.

I don't like February much either - its only redeeming feature is that it only has 28 days Grin

IpanemaGallina · 07/01/2020 12:59

I really like January. Days noticeably drawing out. Time for a declutter and spring clean.

Garden planning and ordering vegetable seeds.

Healthier diet. Christmas books to read.

wendz86 · 07/01/2020 13:01

Hate it. It's dark. Money has to last longer as got paid earlier in Dec. Not a lot going on.

OccasionalNachos · 07/01/2020 13:02

Yes. Everything feels fresh and new and reset, and the nights/mornings are already slightly lighter. And there are no requirements to go out or spend too much money. I love late winter/early spring.

VanGoghsDog · 07/01/2020 13:05

It's OK. I try not to work until the first full week so then it feels like a three week month.

I also love wearing boots and wrapping up against the cold so it's good for that reason.
Then it's Feb which also feels short (for those of you paid monthly this must be nice!) and quick step into March where we can start imagining it's spring again.

Chickenwing · 07/01/2020 13:11

The only reason I find January hard is because I get paid early in December so the money has to stretch further. I'm skint until next payday which is a bit stressful!

MrsJonesAndMe · 07/01/2020 13:32

No and February either! Dark, cold, miserable and always short of money regardless of how careful I try to be.

MsRinky · 07/01/2020 13:42

I enjoy Christmas right up until 12th night, then have my birthday soon after. Plus I like the fresh-startness of it. Lovely new journal to write in, blood oranges and forced rhubarb in the shops, still cold enough to wear layers and convince myself I'll be slim by summer...

elQuintoConyo · 07/01/2020 13:46

January is ok, a short working month (i start back tomorrow).

February is nice and short with carnival in it somewhere.

March can go suck it.

April starts getting warmer so we can do picnics! Plus there's Easter and birthdays and i can swap my wardrobe over.

fizzymango · 07/01/2020 13:47

I usually hate it then last year I tried to look at it with fresh eyes and instead enjoyed how quiet my city centre is on my lunch break, how my weekends can be spent slobbing out instead of attending Christmas parties and events and/or frantically shopping.

homemadecommunistrussia · 07/01/2020 13:53

I love January. Winter is my favourite season, but December is spoilt by Christmas. January can just be enjoyed for it's cool temperatures abd long dark nights.Smile

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 07/01/2020 13:54

No. What I especially hate about it is the moaning from people that are CHOOSING to do it. They then get shit faced at the first opportunity. If someone was giving up alcohol for good I wouldnt mind the moaning so much, but as people are mainly jumping on a social media bandwagon it pisses me off.
