Do I need two instant pots

I have an instant pot and I love it. I've just noticed the 8L one is an Amazon deal of the day.

DH has asked if I would like two, I feel like I do but would that be silly. I could do curry and rice at the same time etc.

Can't you just cook rice in a pan? Although we did have a cheapy rice cooker from Aldi that was useful for family gatherings until it broke and didn't get replaced.

I'm quite interested in an instant pot, but don't know enough about them to decide whether they'd be worth it, what size to get (2 person household but we do batch cook), which features I need, etc. Must do some research.

I can but an instant pot would keep it warm so I could cook both in advance and leave them there until I need it.

I also find when I do it on the job I have to keep adding water so it doesn't get clumpy or dry out but in the pot I just leave it and get on with my day.

I would definitely recommend one, there is only 2 adults and a 2yr old and find the 6L a good size.

I have two, we’re a four adult household so I initially bought the 8L model but found that I was juggling things around, for instance when doing curry and rice, so bought a 3L for rice, some sides and for smaller portions.

Have you got space for 2? I don't like mine sitting out so have space for it in a cupboard - but definitely not room for 2. A rice cooker takes up less space (and in theory mine keeps the rice warm after cooking - in practise it sticks a bit)

I have the 6l and the 3l...I bought that for the boat, but haven't taken it down there yet as we haven;t done a long stretch away

I also think it might be lonely down there and I think they look cute on the side together.

I have two 6l ones, as bought second in Black Friday sale. I used to have a similar size rice cooker, but gave it to my mum, so thought a second instant pot would be a much more versatile replacement. (I also saw the 8l offer today and wonder if it would have been a better option.)

Do it! I haven't got 2 as can't afford it but wish I could!

I bought a second inner pot for when I cook curry & rice. I found the first pot stayed warm after cooking a chilli this week, might be worth just getting an extra inner

Thanks everyone, im still very tempted.

Been thinking about the uses for two. Yoghurt in one and dinner in the other. Can make mince in one and potatoes in the other in advance to make cottage pie.

You need at least three. Two savoury and one for puddings/desserts.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 07/01/2020 16:56

I have 2 — a 6-litre and a 3-litre. I don’t use them both at the same time much, but it makes me happy knowing I could!

Motherofmonsters · 07/01/2020 17:21

I haven't tried any desserts in mine yet but I could. 3 is probably too many though
