Have been off work with the most dreadful virus for the last week, starting to recover but nowhere near completely better. Completely forgot that pre-virus I'd offered to help another school mum with a childcare problem today, so I was both horrified and unprepared when two extra children appeared on my doorstep at 7.30am.
When I originally said I'd do it I thought I'd walk them all to the park to burn off some energy, get some biscuits in to decorate and do crafts etc. Park is definitely off, and I haven't been shopping so no biscuits and lunch is going to be a store-cupboard special. So far the four of them have pulled out every toy in the playroom and I've already resorted to Netflix. The next five hours are stretching ahead... They're 5, 5, 4 and 2 and are pinging off the walls. Halp!

Sorry that your I’ll op, did you let the parent know today that you weren’t feeling well?

LoisLittsLover · 07/01/2020 10:23

Scavenger hunt type thing in the garden - either fill a matchbox or find so ething begining with each letter of the alphabet

Put music on and shut the curtains and let them have a disco.

Alexa can play party gamea eg musical bumps if you have 1

Make their own lunch where possible eg sandwiches

PumpkinCounty · 07/01/2020 10:31

Give them some cloths and a sweeping brush and tell them whoever does the best job gets a sweet or something (obviously they would all win).

crustycrab · 07/01/2020 10:46

Can't believe people are suggesting melting chocolate and scavenger hunts 😳

Netflix, just eat delivery for lunch, big pile of crayons and colouring on the floor for anyone who can't concentrate on the film.

frankincenseandmur · 07/01/2020 10:48

Put on Netflix and order in food if you can. Or do something quick and easy.

anothernamereally · 07/01/2020 11:25

Uber eats or similar for lunch or get them to make toast.
Film afternoon, blanket den making or umbrella den if you have some.
Ask them to tidy toys/ game each time they want to play with something new.

I second the make a den

Simonsaysitschristmas · 07/01/2020 11:29

Big pot of pasta and grated cheese for lunch. Let them create dens in the playroom and use Netflix as much as possible.

Hope you feel better soon OP

Scavenger hunt. In the play room.

Who can find me... A car.. ok put it in this box...

Who can find a cup?
Saucer? They go in this box.

C Beebies is good.

All you have to achieve today is live children to hand back.
