Hangover

Hi,

Does anyone else get horrific hangovers? And if you don't do you have any tips or is it just luck?

I am not a regular big drinker, I might have 1 or 2 glasses of wine across a weekend if I'm just at home.

However, I do like a drink when out with friends and enjoy a good night out maybe 4 times a year. On Saturday, I went for dinner, shared a bottle of wine with a friend, then ate and we had another 3 bottles over dinner between 3 of us . All had a great night, and I probably ended up consuming 1.5 bottles of white wine over the evening by midnight (started around 7) I was definitely merry, but perfectly fine walking home, had a conversation with DH who said I was obviously a bit drunk but not wrecked and having a normal chat. I drank water before bed.

Anyway, woke the next morning horrifically ill. I was vomiting frequently until 2pm and couldn't keep anything down. Total write off and just had to lie in bed. It just feels so unfair that the occasional cracking night out is ruined! I could cope with a groggy head but this was awful and puts me off risking even a couple of drinks next time.

I do get migraine so wondered if this might be why my hangovers are so bad? 1 of the friends was completely fine, the other had a headache and was tired but managed to get through the day. We all drank pretty much the same and no mixing or shots or anything.

Anyone else like this?

So pleased to hear many say 'switch to vodka'

I'm 48 and really can no longer tolerate wine. I don't even like the taste now, too acidic. ANOTHER menobloodypause symptom Hmm

Believe me, my tolerance is high Smile and I love a drink, my only vice.

So yes, vodka is fabulous. I have vodka and tonic or soda with slice of lime or lemon, don't feel tip top in the morning but, as others have said, by 10am I'm fine.

This DOES NOT WORK WITH GIN!

I'm exactly the same and its definitely wine is the problem! I had a similar amount to you one night just before christmas and was throwing up the next day until 7pm :-( Had a few beers (around 4 i think), and a few Bailey's the other weekend and was a bit groggy when I woke up but otherwise fine.

Definitely switch to something other than wine!

Since having children hangovers are much worse. Some types of alcohol irritate my stomach more. Maybe something in the wine wasn't great with you.
