Any tired and tested recipes for vegan sponge cake and buttercream?

My SIL has a birthday in a few weeks and has asked if I'll make her a cake. It needs to be completely vegan, which is something I've never done before. I have googled for recipes but has anyone got a tried and tested recipe they would share? Id prefer to try one someone else has done plenty of times before.

I need a recipe for the sponge cake and buttercream. She loves Victoria sponge so that's what I'm hoping to do.

I've made non dairy buttercream using Vitalite and Trex as a family member has CMPA. It's vegan and went down well with everyone.

Crazy cake recipes work very well. I also use half trex and half dairy free spread for buttercream.

Google tesco vegan vanilla sponge cake. Works perfectly every single time.

The ms cupcake Victoria sponge recipe, or the BBC good food vegan lemon cake (can leave out lemon and add vanilla if you prefer). Turn out well, but egg free tend to be more delicate so I'd go for simple shapes. Buttercream, second trex and a dairy free marg. Flora buttery has a good taste. Mix the 2 fats 50:50 (trex helps as higher fat content and needs less icing sugar) then make buttercream as normal. Most ready roll icing is vegan too

I know all Flora is vegan now but a quick google tells me icing sugar is not! Never knew that.

Royal icing sugar has egg white in, but normal icing sugar is vegan I'm sure (definitely dairy and egg free)

I did domestic gothess chocolate fudge cake and it was fantastic.

British icing sugar is suitable for vegans (but may contain traces of egg, probably because it is processed in the same factory as royal icing sugar). Some brands use a product made of animal bones to process it but I don't think it's very common, silver spoon and Tate and Lyle are vegan friendly.

www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/article/578edf2d-9c22-453e-ab33-48f7a0568c0b BBC article on some common foods that are surprisingly not vegan. Icing sugar is last. Apparently some icing sugar contains egg white. All I can say is Tate & Lyle doesn't, as far as I can see.

Flora Buttery is not certified dairy free and may contain traces of milk products. Flora's website states it isn't recommended for anyone with dairy allergies or intolerances. Flora Dairy Free is certified dairy free.

DD's favourite "butter" is Naturli brand
