Breast operation - any advice?

I'm having doubts about my decision not to operate. Anyone with experience that would be willing to share their experience or advise?

I've had discharge from one nipple for around 6 months. Had a mamagram and been to the breast clinic and have been advised that it's not cancer but discharge caused by a blocked duct. Only remedy is surgery where they pretty much remove the nipple, cut off a couple of centimetres of tissue and then put the nipple back on. I chose not to operate as it's not negatively affecting my health, it doesn't hurt and it seems like a pretty big operation for what is essentially a cosmetic surgery.

The discharge varies from not very much to leaking through my clothes on one occasion (in 6 mths). I've just pulled off my top and it's a few spots again today. Consultant says I can refer back anytime if I change my mind.

Has anyone had this done or anyone chosen to live with it?
Of course I'm so grateful that it's not cancer or anything worse!,,

Any reason why the can't unblock the duct?
Any indication that if left it could become more problematic/sinister?
Depending on the answers to the above I'd think twice about getting it done.

I've had all the ducts removed from both breasts, it was fucking painful for months and months and there was a significant loss of tissue despite how tiny the ducts actually are. They didn't remove the nipple but cut around areola about half way. Also cause numbness in nipples that took say 2 years to become anywhere near normal again.

tits no, nothing more sinister and consultant said only way to cure would be to operate, no other option for unbloking. Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds horrendous!
