Sinusitis? Scalp sensitivity and pain

Posting here for traffic - I did post on health but unfortunately only had one respondent Smile

I’ve had what I think is sinusitis for a couple of weeks. But what’s worrying me is I have a really sensitive scalp - it hurts to brush my hair and I have areas of numbness or burning at times too (suggesting nerve compression). Dr Google doesn’t list this as a symptom.

Has anyone else suffered in this way? I find doctors / nurses don’t really understand unless presenting with ‘standard’ symptoms hence why I am asking for those with past experience.

Thankies!

Just a thought. Allergies?

I have chronic illness & when I started reacting to high histamine foods, my scalp became very tender & sore like that. Also flushing soreness across cheeks & nose.

Dr Google helped me research this, as did various patient groups on FB.

Hmmm. I don’t really have any allergies that I know of.

DH gets hurty hair (that's the actual medical term) whenever he gets a cold. I suffer a lot with sinuses and do get a bit tender too.

A few years ago I had sinusitis and it was horrendous my whole head was tender and everything hurt.
I suffered for a month all in all- the gp gave me antibiotics in the end and it cleared it up. It was one of the most painful things I've had ( and I have endometriosis so no stranger to pain !)
I did get patches of numbness on my face.

I’ve had this too when my sinuses are blocked (allergy & cold related). My scalp felt a mixture of bruised and burning. I’ve also had teeth pain with it.

Did anything help or did it solve its self I've had a sinus infection and today the top of my scalp is burning

spiderlight · 12/04/2021 12:36

Allodynia - I get it with particularly nasty migraines.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/04/2021 12:43

I find my scalp hurts if I wash it less often than every couple of days. Could it be that if people are stuck at home with a sinus infect, they are washing their hair less?

emzy1990 · 12/04/2021 12:54

My cheeks and temples hurt its been ages now I've never had a sinus infection the gp gave me steroid spray and antihistamines its causing my anxiety to spiral sorry I sound daft

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/04/2021 12:58

Not at all emzy1990, sinus infections are miserable - it's very difficult to rise above a sore throbbing face! The steroids will definitely reduce the inflammation though.

@TheYearOfSmallThings thank you having headaches every day just panics me hope it soon settles down
