Would you go wild camping on your own?

Just wondered if many women have done solo wild camping?

I would - and have! I'd pick my location, in that I wouldn't want to be too close to civilisation etc. As a previous poster mentioned I also probably wouldn't want to camp out of signal, unless it was a path with a fairly steady flow of people. Safety reasons!
Realistically I'd camp out of signal if fairly low down though. I'd be nervous camping high up and isolated alone, but that's just lack of experience - I'd be nervous camping high up and isolated full stop!

I’d really admire someone who did this, but no way for me.
I’d just be a wreck from lack of sleep due to irrational fears and over thinking.

Yes. I would and have. Something fantastic about not seeing people for days and being totally self sufficient.

Id only do it somewhere properly wild without people though.

Yes, have done it quite a bit. The peace and solitude is amazing! In fact just thinking about it makes me want to plan another trip. Have only ever once had an issue an that was on a trip in Scotland in winter when the tent zip froze stuck and I had terrible trouble getting out....

I've done it on Dartmoor. We go wild camping up there with the kids quite a lot as well. We love camping though Smile

As another poster said, it's legal on parts of Dartmoor so not a problem there.

There's a facebook group called Adventure Queens with lots of info/support around solo female adventures.

Yes but...only somewhere genuinely wild where I wasn’t likely to meet anyone else, and only in certain countries.
