Would you go wild camping on your own?

Just wondered if many women have done solo wild camping?

That sounds like utter bliss. Why did I never think of this before??

okiedokieme · 06/01/2020 16:43

No, but then I have to be persuaded to camp. I actually like it once I'm there but I hate carrying the kitGrin

okiedokieme · 06/01/2020 16:44

Ps I hate campsites, much prefer wild camping

I would but my husband would want to join me.

Witchonastick · 06/01/2020 16:47

Another who’d feel safer out in wild than in a campsite alone!
Think I’d rather have my dog with me though.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/01/2020 16:52

Yes, it's the best sort of camping. Out in the hills, away from any paths, (preferably on a summit somewhere for the sunrises). Blissful.

holly40 · 06/01/2020 16:56

No. Not my idea of a nice time at all.

cheezy · 06/01/2020 21:31

I’d do it!! I reckon you’re safer in the middle of Dartmoor than somewhere in a city. I’d be more concerned about getting trampled on by a horse (if on Dartmoor)

cosytoaster · 06/01/2020 21:36

I haven't yet but I would. Have a few female friends who do so regularly in Summer.

Drabarni · 06/01/2020 21:44

I love travelling and camping, but prefer company.
I also like to have my van with me Grin

closetotheaction · 06/01/2020 21:46

Fuck that.

DjMomo · 06/01/2020 21:48

No, it sounds pretty shit.

Verily1 · 06/01/2020 21:48

Never even thought of this.

Would love to get a camper van and go off on that in my own.

Is that a good compromise?

PaperFlowers4 · 06/01/2020 21:49

I’d love to. I think I’d feel more relaxed if I had a dog with me who possessed a deep bark.

theweebleshavelanded · 06/01/2020 21:50

yes. beach at sunrise....

Skyejuly · 06/01/2020 21:52

Yes I have in scotland. I wouldnt do it here in south coast england lol

FlaviaAlbia · 06/01/2020 21:55

I don't think so. There's no mobile reception where I'd go wild camping so if I slipped and broke my leg or something, I'd be stuck until someone came across me or came to find me. I think that's a much bigger risk than being attacked though that risk still exists...

I'd much rather do it with someone for company.

YouJustDoYou · 06/01/2020 21:56

Well it's technically illegal so no. Plus, safety reasons = hell no.

EvaHarknessRose · 06/01/2020 21:58

I think I could enjoy that.

Thestrangestthing · 06/01/2020 21:59

No I'm too scared of ghosts and monsters, can't sleep in my own house alone!

EvaHarknessRose · 06/01/2020 21:59

Though I'm getting glamping adverts alongside this thread so maybe the internet doesn't believe I can rough it that much.

Lulualla · 06/01/2020 22:01

Been doing it since I was 16. Really you're not going to bump into anyone deep in the highlands.

Lulualla · 06/01/2020 22:02

@YouJustDoYou

Its legal in Scotland. You can almost camp anywhere.

FruityWidow · 06/01/2020 22:18

@YouJustDoYou not in Scotland and some parts of Dartmoor.

I'm more comfortable wild camping alone than I am staying on a campsite alone.

GroggyLegs · 06/01/2020 22:27

Fuck that

😂

I can rationally know that the chances of being attacked or hurt are negligible compared to a night out in town, but my gut instincts would not let me enjoy wild camping alone one little bit.
