Need a new hoover - Miele, Shark or something else

My third Miele has died so need to replace asap. Was simply going to replace with another Miele but then two things happened .., realised the last one I bought is 2200w and current hoovers are around 890w. Big difference but is it noticeable? Also, the Sharp Liftaway (not sure on model) keeps popping up when I google best buy reviews.

Recommendations much appreciated! Thanks.

I got the snark lift away pet model a few months ago and it’s fab! I actually enjoy hoovering with (well aware I need to get out moreGrin )

I got it to replace a dyson and hoover everyday but was absolutely disgusted with how much the shark lifted that was being missed by the dyson!

Trudy2123 · 06/01/2020 12:45

@Southmouth, what is it like for manoeuvrability? I’m used to a cylinder that is easy to pull around behind me and, importantly, can get under some furniture ... not to mention the extra onboard brushes and tools?

The turbo brush that comes with the pet model is great, I used it all the time on my stairs and real brings the pile up. You wouldn’t believe the amount of hair the fluff the rotating brush brings up either. I find it really easy to manoeuvre and does glide nicely however I think it’s heavier than my cylinder dyson but using it as lift away does make it a lot lighter too.

Also find it much better to clean out than my cylinder which would also get permanently blocked for some reason.

I have a Meile Blizzard Cat and Dog.
It's ok but I find to vacuum the rug I have to sit and use the nozzle as anything else the suction is far too strong and turning it down is not enough.
I wish I'd stuck with an upright though.

I’m loving my Shark Liftaway. Easy to get under furniture and up to the spiders on the ceiling with the lift away part. Then it just clicks back in.

Two Sharks, one Miele ... has anyone else bought something they’re happy with recently? Thanks!

I have a vax , which is a great vacuum cleaner and shampooer but weighs a ton so I have just ordered a Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S for £190 ( not got it yet ) that can scuttle around a few times a week and I will get the big guns out once a month ( I hope )

I have the shark lift away. Cant fault it for carpets and rugs. Its bloody brilliant in that regard. But I dont find it as good on hard floors and I find it quite heavy to manoeuvre. I dont agree either that its easy to get under furniture because you have to lift away the main body, very fiddly. So I use the shark for carpets and rugs and find my cylinder tesco brand one much more straight forward and much quicker for the hard floor areas and actually better as lifting the dirt. The shark lift away isn't great on hard floors and I personally would not recommend it for houses with mainly hard floors.

I bought a shark liftaway in the black friday sale. Love it. Much lighter than my dyson, moves easily and has great suction.

Just got a Miele cylinder cleaner - bottom of the range. Extremely powerful and light. Very impressed.

I have a sebo. Not the most well know o brands but fabulous. They last forever. I bought this one to replace my 20year old model which had nothing wrong with it until a temporary cleaner managed to stop it down a flight if stairs onto a hard floor, and smash it to smithereens. My mum has now had hers 30+ years.
I have the pet model (with a light😁lightthe child in me loves this). Its upright, has additional suction features and adjusts the brush height depending on the floor surface. It has a standard hose with crevice tool and brush and an extra long hose for doing stairs which comes with a special whizzy brush which is like a small version of the beater bar brush in the main Hoover. You can take the whole machine completely apart to service and clean it yourself which means they keep running well forever. You can buy tons of funky accessories for them yoo but I have never bothered. It is heavy but as you push it it's easy and as you use the hose for the stairs and then carry it up to use it straight upstairs it's pretty good. I went to john lewis to specifically buy one but they apparently rate it as their best vacuum cleaner.

I have always had dysons then recently got a shark which I just returned for another dyson.
The shark's suction is terrible. It seemed pretty good on carpets to start with but after a few weeks the suction wasn't nearly as good as the first couple of week. I spent ages looking for a blockage and cleaning filters but it made no difference. It could pick up dust but no little pieces of things (bigger crumbs, little pieces of dried mud, the odd grain of cat litter etc) that were slightly heavier than dust - they just got spat out a couple of metres from where they were collected.

Namechange8471 · 06/01/2020 23:21

Shark!

springydaff · 07/01/2020 00:01

Which sebo do you have giraffe?

Trudy2123 · 07/01/2020 13:55

Thank you for so many replies. I have decided against the Shark, am leaning towards a Miele Cat & Dog (that’s what we have and it was brilliant until it died) but am off to look at Sebos now! Meantime, I am using a dustpan and brush whilst trying to turn a blind eye to the carpets!!

It is a good vacuum, I'm probably harsh on it because the suction is too good for my flimsy rug.

Finfintytint · 07/01/2020 14:05

My Henry Pet picks up far more than my Dyson pet ever did. It’s fab.

GlamGiraffe · 07/01/2020 14:09

@springydaff it's this

Need a new hoover - Miele, Shark or something else
cheesewitheverything · 07/01/2020 14:22

Love my Bosch cordless!

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 07/01/2020 14:23

Henry.

Had Miele and Dyson in the past and think both are overrated- esp that stick one from Dyson.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/01/2020 14:24

Meile every time.

Jaxhog · 07/01/2020 14:25

Why not look at the latest Which? report on vacuums?

springydaff · 07/01/2020 19:30

Thank you giraffe but bit to expensive for me! Enjoy 😊
