Artichokes? Help!

Can somebody tell me if I’ve cut it correctly? I’m visually impaired, and I accidentally cut the tail off… Which I don’t think you were supposed to do. Anyway, do I just take the big piece on the left and boil it? And do I eat the entire thing?

I think you are maybe confusing artichokes with Jerusalem "artichokes" or topinambur - which those are. You peel them and eat them like potatoes. See here:

Ha ha Ha ha ha, you made me laugh on a Monday morning… Oh dear… Wrong thing… Oh well, I’m trying to cook it now… Just to see how it goes. I have a lot of trouble with my hands, so cutting things like this is very difficult… So is peeling… If I just put it into boil and then peel it later, would it be OK? That is what I’m doing… That is what I have to do with sweet potatoes and things…
