Urgent, should I wear makeup for job interview today?

Have an 'informal' interview today at 11am, but still feel I should make an effort to look polished.

I'm reasonably good at putting makeup on and it does make me look better rather than like a clown but I absolutely loathe wearing it as it makes me very uncomfortable.

So do I grin and bear it, look a bit better but feel like clawing my face off by 10am, or do I just put a bit of moisturiser on, accept my uneven and slightly pock marked complexion but not be distracted by the gunk on my face?

It's in care (specifically a nursing home) so there is an expectation to look clean, neat and tidy but not to be made up or glamorous as such.

I've gone with a bit of powder and mascara because my skin was looking very blotchy this morning and I have enormous shadows under my eyes, have also put wipes in my purse so I can take it off straight away after the interview.

Thanks everyone for the advice and well wishes Grin

Only just saw the thread. That will be fine. Used to work in care. Didn't wear make up unless special occasion and we were going out.
Good luck 💐

You're wearing the wrong make up for your skin type or applying too much if it makes you want to claw your face off. You shouldn't be able to feel it. However if it does make you feel uncomfortable to wear it, you should just leave it off.

Pretty much every type of make up is the wrong type of make-up for my skin type.

It's ridiculously sensitive and prone to both eczema and acne. I have over the last 15 years or so tried every type of powder, cream, bb cream, tinted moisturiser, foundation, lotion and potion going.

I have found one mascara that doesn't make my eyes itch and water.

Lipstick I get on with reasonably well but looks a bit daft with blotchy uneven skin (which is that way because of how sensitive it is).

I'm under a dermatologist so it's really not something anything off the high street can fix.

It's not the make-up. It's my skin.

also late to the party but hope it went well!

as a general rule in life, think 'would a man worry about this?' There you go.

and red lips make everyone look like a clown anyway.

It went really well thanks! The very lovely man interviewing me said he would be delighted to have me on his team and it was just a case of waiting for references and I can start Grin
