5 weeks pregnant, bleeding and clotting

I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant and 2 days ago I started spotting, first it was brown in colour and only when I wiped, then yesterday I started to develop worse cramping pains and the blood flow had gotten heavier, my urine had turned red and the blood when wiping had started to show little clots. After speaking to my midwife she advised me to go up to a&e as it was a Sunday and maternity services are closed. They took some blood and did a urine sample and sent me away as there’s nothing they could do today, he said my pregnancy hormone is to be as expected but this doesn’t mean nothing as it only got checked once so I have nothing to compare this with. He booked me in to have a scan the following Tuesday and until then I’ve just got to wait.

Since leaving the hospital the pain has gotten much worse and the blood is more constant, I’m passing more clots and there’s blood leaking out everytime I go to the toilet now, I’m also leaking onto pads I’m wearing.

I don’t know what to do, I’ve contacted my midwife but I haven’t heard anything from her yet, I can’t just sit here and watch this happen until tomorrow. Anyone got any advice or what they would do/have done in this situation.

Go back to A&E if the pain is that bad. They should be able to prescribe you stronger painkillers.

So sorry to hear that - sounds like a chemical pregnancy and nature is taking its course. Feel for you OP. Thanks

I’m so sorry OP. If you need stronger pain killers then get them.

I’ve had the same a few times sadly and it never gets easier.

Go back to A&E if the pain is unbearable or the bleeding stays heavy.

I’m so sorry OP, my early miscarriage was like this too. Get some stronger painkillers and use a hot water bottle too.

Thank you for your replies. I went for my scan on Tuesday and as expected it wasn’t good news, no sign of the baby in my uterus, they did find a fluid filled mass in my ovary so I’m now being treated for an ectopic pregnancy and am being sent to they’re tomorrow.

Don’t ignore the symptoms guys and go get yourself checked out straight away.

I know I couldn’t of done anything to change this outcome but how it’s ok to leave someone in pain for 3 days because there’s no maternity services open on a weekend disgusts me!
